Our client is a household name in the composite industry in the UK and overseas. As part of continued growth, they are recruiting a Purchasing Manager for a permanent position.

Heading the purchasing team and reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and developing the purchasing department.


Some of the key responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Analyse and propose improvements to the current purchasing system to  improve vendor relationships and lower the cost of business
  • Identify the correct purchasing strategy for the full range of materials and services
  • Run and action the company MRP reports / maintain MRP and ERP with live data relating to supplier delivery dates
  • Build relationships with key suppliers and monitor performance to ensure delivery and quality targets are met and costs are optimised
  • Collaborate with areas of Stores and Project Managers for gauging inventory level needs and then maintaining these throughout the year as well as work closely with Project Management, Production and Quality

·         establishing buyer goals based on inventory needs and sales projections for the coming year and setting career objectives for each member of the purchasing team.

  • Manage the company’s day-to-day purchasing activities
  • Ensure that all buyers are meeting their personal performance standards
  • Assist in developing more effective processes
  • Oversee purchasing of technical materials, including metallics, pattern block and prepregs
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and BoMs
  • Document supplier audits alongside Quality Manager
  • Attend contract reviews when necessary to provide procurement input


Our client requires the following experience to consider applications:

  • Demonstrable purchasing management experience
  • Team Leader experience
  • excellent negotiation skills
  • multitasking ability
  • excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work with a variety of people, industry experience and be highly organised
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management in a manufacturing environment required
  • Proven history of developing effective inventory management policies required
  • CIPS Certification preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of MRP systems and MS Office
  • Experience of working within an aerospace or motorsport environment would be an advantage
