Principal Systems Engineer

Job Description: Primary Purpose:
Under limited direction, analyze user’s requirements, concept of operations documents and high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications. Analyze system requirements and leads design and development activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Guide users in formulating requirements, advise alternative approaches and conduct feasibility studies
Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design and technology
Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations
Develop design documentation
Develop architecture and system design documentation
Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment of preparation of systems engineering management plan sans system integration and test plans
Develop systems engineering documentation: system engineering plans, Initial capabilities Documents, Requirement specifications and Interface control documents
Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure delivery of production systems compatible with the defined system architecture
Coordinate resolution of action items from the Configuration Control Board meetings, design reviews, program reviews and test reviews that require cross –discipline coordination
Review and develop to program work break down (WBS) work packages and integrated Master Plan
Implement comprehensive Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) solutions
Develop derived requirements for Information Assurance Services
Assess risk to the program and determine probability of occurrence and quantified consequence of failure in accordance to Risk Management plan
Manage and ensure technical integrity of the system baseline over time
Support planning and test analysis of DoD Certification/Accreditation process
Travel to other LGS Locations or Customer Sites as necessary
Understand and adhere to all LGS Ethical and Compliance policies
Proactively ensure a safe work environment and adhere to LGS EH&S policies and procedures
Perform other duties as required
If required, obtain/retain a government security clearance at the level to perform the job
Minimum Qualifications: Skills and Knowledge:
Fifteen (15) years of experience as a SE in programs of similar scope, type and complexity is required.
TS/SCI with Full Scope Poly
Knowledge of Microsoft software applications and other software applications as required
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management or related discipline from an accredited college or university and 10-15 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: N8:N9Masters or PhD preferred
