Position Summary:

The Plating Engineer assists the Lab Manager in operation of the Process Control Lab, with direct involvement in the process and related troubleshooting required to ensure quality requirements and efficiencies are meant. Additionally this position will work closely with production to ensure desired metal finishing outcomes.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

* Execute operations of the Process Control Lab. Performs (or causes the performance of) the process control procedures and responsibilities in the latest revision of Southwest procedure, SWP-899.
* Supervise monthly process control testing.
* Maintain process control testing schedule and matrix of specifications.
* Ensure customer specifications are incorporated into testing schedule and requirements.
* Interpret process control data.
* Maintain process control supplies, such as coupons and tensile bars.
* Maintain process control lab equipment.
* Support maintenance of process equipment and tank chemistry
* Investigate, report and resolve process and test failures
* Support all departments with problem solving on process related issues
* Contribute to the resolution of process engineering nonconformance or efficiency issues as requested
* Support internal and external audit efforts when required
* Develop or assist in the development of new processes. Provide technical expertise and counsel to management in the development of new processes.
* Personally observe safety and security procedures and proper use of equipment and material. Actively promote safety process and report any safety issues to proper channels for action.
* Support Company EEO policies and take action to provide a workplace free from harassment or discrimination

Required Skills:

* Understanding of metal finishing industry
* Working knowledge of quality systems, quality control, process control, statistical analysis, non-destructive testing, inspection methods, blueprint reading, and welding, machining, grinding and thermal spray technology
* Demonstrated ability to perform high level mathematical problem solving, geometry, physics, chemistry, mechanical properties, thermodynamics, metallurgy, etc.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Self-motivated and ability to work well with others
* Good working knowledge of personal computers and standard office software with ability to develop and maintain spreadsheets
* Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment

Required Experience and Education:

* Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field
* 3+ years of experience in quality or directly related field, aerospace industry experience desired
* 2+ years of leadership experience
