Department: Central People Team

Reports to: Assistant People Manager

Location: Shanghai, China

Assist the People Department to work strategically with senior and line management as a business partner to create overall business alignment on organizational structure, people direction and optimization to enable and inspire our people to excel in everything they do whilst supporting compliance with local legislation and global policy.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment and On-boarding

* Assist in the implementation of recruitment strategies for talent at all levels within China as required

* Manage and execute the full recruitment cycle process via “Careers” system

* Assist with staff recruitment and selection processes

* Establish and maintain partnerships with hiring managers to meet hiring needs

* Coordinate the facilitation of the onboarding programme for Brushwingers

* Monitor and enhance the onboarding experiences

* Responsible for all formalities for new joiner and resigned staff

* Assist in cabin crew recruitment and onboarding process


* Support the alignment of our internal employee experience with the external brand promise of Life Well Travelled to create personalised and meaningful signature moments for all employees

* Support People Survey activities and the associated outcome register

* Through informal networks report on reasons why people may be leaving

Leave Management

* Well manage and monitor all leave record (including annual leave, sick leave and etc) for both ground staff and cabin crew

* Provide support in leave checking and verify

Staff Development and Performance Management

* Advocate and apply the culture of leading high performance teams and individuals

* Assist in the assessment of employee competency and potential as required

* Assist in the coordination of Performance Improvement Plans as required

* Coordinate the facilitation of internal development programmes

* Provide administrative support on the Performance Management platform

Remuneration, Compensation and Benefits

* Assist in the preparation of annual staff budgets and the annual remuneration review process as required ensuring transparency and fairness

* Understand the Company’s pay policy and benchmarking methodology

* Assist with benchmarking exercises through research and analysis in line with Company guidelines

Employee Relations

* Help build relationships with staff based on mutual respect and the understanding of the Company’s vision

* Provide support in disciplinary matters, staff grievances and other staff related issues as required

* Demonstrate leadership and lead by example in accordance with Cathay Pacific’s core values

* Enhance the employee experience across multiple touch-points in line with Cathay Pacific’s internal brand promise of Life Well Travelled




Provide assistance to implement best people practices and programmes to support Company business objectives as well as local operational and development needs

* Provide administration and support services to the RM/PM, department heads and individual team members on people related issues as required

* Provide coaching support for the department heads and own team as required

* Assist local management in finding solutions to employee related issues

* Provide support on various training projects as required

* Ensure all staff are enrolled in the correct training course and record are accurate

Staff Travel

* Assist in travel suspension for outstanding payment

* Provide support to China staff on staff travel related issues

Administration and Compliance

* Assist in the review of people policies and procedures as required

* Ensure up-to-date maintenance of PeopleCX and employee personal files

* Ensure maintenance of Mainland China site on all people related matters

* Provide administrative support on people metrics including, absenteeism, turnover, grievances, headcount, organisational charts, staff identification cards and other period reports and surveys


* University degree

* At least 4 years experiences with 1 year in supervisory role in Human Resource Management or a similar role

* Sound knowledge and application of China regulatory and local legal requirements relating to people management practices

* Knowledge and experience in a HR environment, particularly in recruitment, employment contract, work health and safety, would be an advantage

* Proven ability to work proactively on own initiative with minimal supervision

* Experience in participating in and exposure to implementing change management initiatives

* Experience in people management practices and models for example MBTI, business partnering, performance management

* Demonstrable experience in successful relationship building

* Ability to translate business needs to formulate people policies

* Ability to consistently communicate clearly and honestly

* Excellent attention to detail skills

* IT literate and fully conversant in the use of Microsoft applications; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer

* Excellent command of both spoken and written English

* PRC national register or holding PRC ID card
