My client is an innovative and entrepreneurial team of experts, involved in the development of clean and quiet electric propulsion aircraft.

As part of their ongoing success and growth, they are now seeking an Operations Manager to join their forward-thinking team in Switzerland on a permanent basis.
The current team is composed of highly experienced engineers, entrepreneurs and managers and is seeking a like mind talented Operations Manager professional to oversee the factory plant/automated assembly line planning and building, through to full production and beyond. 
  

Main responsibilities:

• Help define the roadmap and plans to volume manufacturing status
• Develop an operations infrastructure and grow a high performing team that will support the company’s transition to production
• Assess the current processes, methodologies, infrastructure and tools used to develop and manufacture, monitor and measure quality, reliability and manufacturing performance and make recommendations for a roadmap for the company’s transition over the next 2 years, from prototyping to volume production of aeronautic certified, highly reliable and cost-effective electric propulsion systems
• Lead the execution of the roadmap and the development and transformation in supply chain management, procurement, inventory management, manufacturing, quality, and safety systems, as to be consistent with projected volumes over the next 3 to 5 years
• Put collaborative structures into place at all levels of the organisation, to ensure that all team members adhere to processes and relevant operational and organisational key business best practices with the paramount objective of maintaining superior quality
• Ensure progress keeps moving forward
 

Ideal Candidate profile:
  • Strategic/tactical capabilities and thinking is needed to be a driver and agent of change in a fast changing environment.
  • An outstanding hands-on leader with common sense, recognized managerial abilities, committed to organisational efficiency, team building focus and no ego
  • Skilled in negotiations and communications with external and internal partners and authorities
  • Deep integrity and a willingness in pursuing a collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Results oriented mind-set, dedicated to delivering on commitments and milestones
  • A personality which is proactive, self-motivated and who can take initiatives
  • Comfortable in managing multiple teams in a complex environment
  • Possesses a proven track record as an operations leader who has led medium scale businesses in technology focused industries (such as automotive, electronics or aeronautics), through transformation from start-up to volume production.
Specifically, this includes:
  • Experience with supply chain management, operations, procurement, safety, quality, failure analysis, production and documentation of IT systems
  • 15+ years of experience, with 3-5 years at a Director level and 4 years in managing operations in a complex technology business
  • Bachelor of Science required with advanced degree preferred
  • Success in implementing a production ramp up and performance improvement plans, with measurable outcomes
  • Comfortable in dealing with suppliers and contractors from a global supply chain
  • Demonstrated success in building a team, creating a “team” environment, bringing together diverse backgrounds and skill sets needed to deliver a highly performant and flexible operation
  • Experience in “6 Sigma” and “Lean Manufacturing”
  • Success in driving operational excellence in quality and safety, cost management and inventory and supply chain management
