Job Description

CACI is looking for a New Engineering Graduate - Spacecraft Dynamics and Simulation Engineer to work with NASA's human-rated spacecraft systems in support of our Nation’s space exploration initiative at NASA / Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Candidates should have great interest in aerospace vehicles and systems, enjoy working with software, have had an outstanding academic career, and most of all, possess a great passion to contribute to our Nation’s exploration of space.

This work involves space vehicle dynamics and control system analysis for NASA’s Deep Space Gateway program. Math model and simulation development is done using Linux PC platforms and the Trick© Simulation Environment and Development Toolkit co-developed by NASA and CACI. Individual will use a high-fidelity simulation to analyze the performance of the guidance, navigation, and control systems for NASA’s Deep Space Gateway.

This work takes place in a highly stimulating environment and is critical in the human space exploration initiative. The position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise. Finally, the most qualified candidate will be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner, must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program, and share in the excitement of developing the next human-rated space vehicles.

What You’ll Get to Do:

Job Responsibilities with significant mentoring will grow to include:

* Space vehicle and dynamics performance analyses, simulation. and evaluation.
* Space vehicle and subsystem simulation math model requirements, architecture definition, and design.
* Debug, test, and verification work with simulation math models and simulation facilities.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

* Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident for access to USG facilities.
* B.S. in Aerospace Engineering with focus on space-related coursework..
* New graduate but prefer 6-12 months relevant work experience (which can include student internships, co-ops, or support of university research labs, etc.).
* Minimum 3.5 GPA with strong background in software development.
* Experience with Unix/Linux OS, and C, C++ languages.
* Coursework in any of the following topics are helpful: dynamics and control systems; orbital mechanics and astrodynamics; robotics and automation; space vehicle systems including dynamics; mechanical; environmental control; electrical power systems; avionics; etc.
* Coursework and projects requiring software development to solve technical problems.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
* Must be highly mature and responsible, and team-oriented with strong communication skills and work ethic.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

* M.S. in Aerospace Engineering with Graduate level coursework or research involving dynamics, controls, flight/orbital mechanics, space vehicle systems, or software simulation.
* Co-op or internship experience in the aerospace industry is a plus, particularly in the NASA JSC environment.
* Experience with the NASA / CACI Trick Simulation Environment is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
* Experience/coursework in spacecraft navigation, rendezvous, Python programming, and distributed computing.
