Missile Engineer

Contribute to the design and assessment of weapons critical in keeping our Warfighters safe!

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Join a diverse team of talented and inspired engineers and analysts to support the Government in development of new, and improve current Air and Missile Defense missile / effector systems in Huntsville, Alabama. To keep pace with emerging technologies and to ensure the Warfighter remains capable against modern aerial threats, the Missile / Effector Engineer will define and assess current and future defensive weapon designs against a wide variety of modern and projected threats. You will analyze and evaluate RF and IR-guided missiles, seekers, signal/image processing algorithms, guidance, and the relevant operating environments and propose or analyze candidate hardware / software upgrades to address shortfalls. These weapon systems span several mission areas including air defense, ballistic missile defense, and hypersonic missile defense. Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in work performance is required. Candidates should have experience with missile engineering, the ISO9001 quality system, and Government customer interactions. Some travel for meetings and test events will be required.

Relocation: Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or able to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Possess a Bachelor's of Science in a technical discipline or equivalent experience

* 5+ years of experience in guided missile development, requirements, testing, and evaluation. Relevant areas include IR/RF seeker operations, Electronic Protection, RF environmental models, communications link content, handover process, etc.

* Knowledge of major review entrance and exit criteria and experience conducting reviews

* Demonstrated ability to evaluate existing designs and identify performance shortfalls

* Candidate must be able to interact and communicate effectively with individuals of different experience levels and backgrounds including Government and industry personnel

* Demonstrated understanding of systems engineering, design processes, weapon system integration, and quality systems

* Candidate must be a US Citizen

* Possess (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Relevant experience in interface control documents, technical baselines, and configuration control management process

* Knowledge of major review entrance and exit criteria and experience conducting reviews

* Familiarity with medium and high fidelity interceptor modeling and simulations

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members, leadership, and customers

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with strong presentation skills and capable of briefing audiences large or small of varying technical knowledge

* Enjoy working in a dynamic, responsive, and collaborative environment, and dedicated to the success of our Government customers
