GENERAL DESCRIPTION

* Inspect mechanical assemblies and systems for visual and dimensional defects.

DUTIES

* Candidate will drill, tap, ream, countersink and spot-face bolt holes, screw holes and rivet locations using presses and portable hand tools.

* Adjust fit as required using hand and power tools to facilitate assemblies to specifications.

* Inspect and adjust completed assemblies to ensure specifications, tolerances and customer requirements are met.

* Read blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions to determine proper assembly sequences and has the ability to identify and suggest process improvements.

* Must have the ability to select the correct tool needed to do the job, regularly makes decisions on tooling requirement for specific tasks.

* Uses mathematics to define or solve complex mechanical assembly problems.

* Assist and train Mechanical Inspector I.

* Must be able to read complex drawings and interpret per ANSI/ASME Y 14.5

* Must be proficient in the use of standard measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges. Must also be able to operate a coordinate measuring machining (CMM).

* Must be able to interpret DoD and customer supplied standards or specifications for requirements in inspection of plating and paint.

* Has an extensive knowledge of raw materials used in mechanical fabrication.

* Has good communication skills and communicates effectively with supervisors, engineering and peers.

* Other Duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

* High school diploma or equivalent is required. Trade school is desirable.

* 4-7 years' Mechanical QA Inspection experience required.

* The candidate will have good dexterity and possess the ability to assemble complex mechanical assemblies.

* Self-starter, little or no immediate supervision required.

* Regularly makes suggestions that improve production velocity and quality.

* Has the ability to select the right tool for the job.

* Good working knowledge of Mitutoya MCOSMOS software a plus.

* Weld inspection background is desirable.

* Possess basic computer skills using Microsoft Office.

* We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform post offer, pre-employment substance abuse testing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. * Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces and sit for extended periods of time.

* Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs.

* On occasion must be able to lift 25 pounds.

* Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders.

* Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

* Works in a manufacturing environment.
