Mechanical Engineer Co-Op
Co-Ops are for students who prefer shorter work periods, usually three months during the summer. A formal agreement is not required with the school. The company's goal is to relate employment opportunities to the student's academic majors to ensure maximum productivity for all parties involved. The goal of the program is to enhance the student's academic training, professional growth, and personal development.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills and works well in a team environment.
·Perform and support New Product Introduction (NPI) programs from Proposal phase through Design and Development, Production Readiness, Entry into Service, and Sustaining.
·Design and develop various components in support of customer and internal requirements.
·Perform analyses and testing to validate/verify design performance.
·Support integrated product teams within Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Development, Quality Assurance, Program Management, and Operations.
·Participate in team coordination meetings.
·Interact with internal and external customers and suppliers.
·Resolve production and/or quality issues and respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner.
·Develop solutions to problems with increasing scope and complexity.
·Contribute to the improvement of design processes and create standard work instructions as needed.
Education and Certifications
·Pursuing a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
·Must be currently enrolled in coursework
·Minimum GPA of 3.0
·Completion of at least 60 credit hours, 90 credit hours completed is preferred
·Basic mechanical engineering principles with a good understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer fundamentals, electrical circuits, fluid flow and structural mechanics
·Strong communication and presentation skills
·Competencies in creative problem solving, bias for action, customer focus, drive for results, and self-development
·Ability to work both independently or on a team as required
·Good understanding of fabrication processes and demonstrated ability to resolve design issues that surface in initial product development
