The Electronic Systems Segment (ESS) provides a broad range of aerospace systems, security and detection systems, and pilot training.
We are searching for a Mechanical Engineer II for our Power Distribution - Anaheim location.
You will perform design, documentation and necessary analysis to support development and sustaining programs. Work may consist of desk work (analysis, design, 3D CAD Modeling), supporting manufacturing by being present on the production floor, supporting test and integration, and overall supporting tasks that are needed by the Technical Lead(s). Mechanical Engineer II's lead small projects and larger tasks under the direction of the technical lead with the ability to perform own analysis and validation with minimal to no supervision. You will present findings and incorporate feedback of projects as full task owners, and provide direction to other team members and mentor as needed.
You will demonstrate success by:
* Interprets customer specifications to define requirements for mechanical designs.
* Applies the Inventor 3D CAD system to create mechanical layouts and drawings.
* Develops detailed fabrication and assembly drawings and performs tolerances analysis.
* Designs interconnecting brackets and support structure between components and subsystems.
* Generates project cost estimates and selects components for various designs.
* Performs some thermal and structural analyses under the guidance of lead mechanical engineers.
* Generates engineering design change orders and performs some checking work.
* Uses established and well defined engineering procedures.
* Able to work simultaneously on a variety of projects.
* Takes directions from project engineer or department manager.
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering from four-year college or university. Must have 3 to 5 years’ experience and/or training in mechanical engineering.
Practical experience with 3-D CAD (Autodesk Inventor [preferred]) and analysis software tools. Autodesk Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)/Mechanical or ANSYS is preferred.
Good communication skills
Practical experience using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Working experience with design and/or structural analysis of electronics modules and cabinets.
Working experience with design of cooling systems for electro-mechanical systems.
Must have knowledge of Mil-Specifications and/or commercial standards (e.g. ASTM, SAE, ASME) for design, hardware, materials and processes, and testing
Able to obtain security clearance.
The ideal candidate candidate must be a demonstrated team player and show ability to learn quickly with minimal oversight, and be able to use Autodesk Inventor prior to start of first day.
