Role Summary:
The Mechanical Designer for Electronic Packaging leads assigned objectives for:

* Product life cycle designs that meet performance requirements for electronic packaging of power conversion & control products
* Design-to-cost

* Schedule commitment

In this mechanical design role, you will use your electronic packaging design experience and expertise to solve mechanical design problems, develop and execute design objectives

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, as the Mechanical Designer for Electronic Packaging, you will:

* Execute electronic packaging design, tolerance analyses and adhere to business standards, practices, procedures, and specified requirements

* Mentor technicians and designers/engineers in design methods and layouts of electronic packaging including the design of electrical harnesses and wire cut lists

* Approve engineering changes to designs ensuring manufacturability, assembly and cost

* Work with engineers, managers, and other designers to develop proposal and electronic packaging design-to-cost solutions

* Create definitions of electronic parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 2-D cross sections, 3-D models, tolerance stack-ups, and various electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection

* Create CAD models using SolidEdge or NX and issue models and associated drawings

* Monitor the work of technicians, use gages in driving quality inspections, and use instrumentation for testing

* Support global outsourcing initiatives by preparing and sending work packages to low cost suppliers, including:
* defining the work scope
* estimating hours and due dates
* monitoring progress
* and serving as a technical resource through periodic communication with suppliers

* Work within the guidelines of applicable:
* GE Policies & Procedures
* Engineering Standards
* Product Definition Operating Procedures
* Specifications
* Government and Commercial Standards
* and Special Security Requirements

* Check (using the Fagan inspection method), validate, and issue 3-D models and 2-D drawings into Windchill

* Work closely with sustaining, electrical, quality and manufacturing engineers to ensure that the electronic and mechanical hardware meet imposed customer and derived requirements

* Please Note: Work Location Listed is Pompano Beach, FL. However, other U.S. locations may be considered including Bohemia (Long Island) NY

Qualifications/Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or technology (with course work in CAD Design and Manufacturing) from an accredited university or college

* Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Mechanical Designer for electronic packaging in proposals, conceptual design, design for product life cycle development, GD&T analysis, manufacturing and assembly, and testing of high-power electronics conversion and electronics control products

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):

* This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

* Please Note: Work Location Listed is Pompano Beach, FL. However, other U.S. locations may be considered including Bohemia (Long Island) NY
