JOB DESCRIPTION

Role Summary:
The Mechanical Controls Buyer will have the responsibility of negotiating a complex supplier landscape for supplier designed controls hardware. You will build and manage supplier relationships, negotiate the procurement, and execute contracts ensuring compliance to all GE Aviation policies and procedures, while achieving the best overall value. You will manage existing commercial agreements and gain experience in both commercial and military procurements.

Essential Responsibilities:

* Lead negotiations including terms and conditions & negotiate the best commercial and technical package for procurement requirements

* Understand and follow Procurement Manual and work with compliance team for all procurements

* Manage claims, issue request for quotes and manage bid process

* Place and follow-up on purchase orders

* Manage relationships with suppliers for purchase order execution

* Manage supplier problems and schedule changes

* Work cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing teams to drive cost, delivery, quality, and supplier development

* Work with allocated key suppliers to improve on time delivery and quality statistics to target levels

* Present to senior leaders on how purchasing contributes to overall strategy

* Assist in the continuous development of the Procurement function towards best practice

* Identify and deliver value-adding opportunities from the supply chain

Qualifications/Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Sourcing)

* Minimum of 3 years of experience in Buying / Procurement, Sourcing, or Supply Chain

Desired Characteristics:

* Strong background in contract negotiation

* Experience in a Buyer role in Aviation or related industry

* Ability to analyze data and perform pricing analysis

* Experience with strategic sourcing of new suppliers / vendors

* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

* Ability to influence others and lead small teams

* Effective problem identification and solution skills
