The Materials Process Engineer will will play a vital role in the development and improvement of the manufacturing process perform engineering tasks to support development, production, and use of composite materials on advanced aerospace avionic products.

  • Support and improve current manufacturing processes. Identify, approve, and implement materials related to composite products based on new composite production technology.
  • Design and create new process flow and work instructions with the correct process lead times, capacity analysis, and resources (machines and labor).
  • Assist in the development and implementation of advanced production processes and tooling methodologies.
  • Develop and execute engineering evaluation plans for experimental or analysis of new materials, new processes or new improvements.
  • Assist in the implementation of Lean principles and technologies.

Special Skills/training required for the Materials Process Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Materials or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment working with composites
  • Strong technical background in composites fabrication, compression molding and composite materials, characterization and defect/failure analysis.
  • Knowledge of a complete structural bonding operations using film adhesives, core materials, and adhesives during composite lay-up, cure and post cure using presses, ovens or autoclaves.
  • Strong Analytical Skills and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
  • Proven leadership abilities, and strong written & verbal communication
