As a Market Development Manager (Battlefield) your main purpose is to, alongside Heads of Region and Sales Teams, undertake the strategic development of current and future markets for Leonardo Helicopters specialised and dual use battlefield helicopters.

You will also determine current and evolving market requirements, new and emerging mission system and weapon technologies to inform new product strategy and product development activities.

Key Responsibilities areas

  • Develop Land Segment Marketing Plans for Leonardo Helicopters rotary wing platforms to help ensure that the company increases global sales and production and establishes a strong corporate and brand presence globally.
  • Identify, monitor and evaluate international customer requirements for future battlefield rotary wing capabilities and associated equipment worldwide and competitors activities.
  • Identify, monitor and evaluate government and industry platform, mission system and weapon development activities to identify technology, system and weapon capabilities that can enhance Leonardo Helicopters competitiveness.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior military and industrial personnel associated with any new or envisaged equipment programmes.
  • Generate and deliver capability briefs and presentations on the Leonardo Helicopters range of battlefield rotary wing aircraft, in coordination with Product Marketing, Sales Engineering, Product Management and Engineering departments.
  • Maintain a close relationship with Leonardo Helicopters Competitor Analysis & Strategy, Product Marketing, Sales Engineering, Commercial and Procurement departments to support the coherent development of Product Marketing Plans and Roadmaps in order to deliver operational and cost-effective products to the market.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • The post holder will have significant experience of military flying in the land environment, be educated to degree level, or equivalent, and have a comprehensive understanding of battlefield helicopter operations.
  • An understanding of battlefield unmanned air systems (fixed and/or rotary wing) is highly desirable.
  • Will have an exceptional standard of presentation and communication skills in order to provide credible advice to customers, stakeholders and Leonardo Helicopters senior leadership.
  • Will be proficient with Microsoft Office based tools such as PowerPoint, Word and Excel in order to develop and deliver technical briefings and presentations.
  • Will be customer focussed with good commercial awareness.
  • Will be capable of working with minimal supervision and as part of a small team working to tight deadlines.
  • Will be able to manage, support and inspire teams and individuals to further career development aspirations and promote exceptional working practices within the company.
  • Will be flexible and able to travel at very short notice to support marketing and business development activities worldwide.
  • Experience of working and dealing with external customers and operators is essential
  • The ability to work within, and lead where required, cross functional teams within Yeovil, London and Cascina Costa, Italy.
