Description:Responsibilities include developing plant layouts, tooling philosophies, ordering and tracking tools being built at tooling suppliers and at Lockheed Fort Worth, assessing production shop equipment needs, analyzing capital forecasts, investigating tool discrepancies, determining root cause and Corrective Action, initiating tooling rework activities and standing up production areas for F-16 modernization and production programs.
Designs and plans layout for such activities as machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and materials handling. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to Engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
Must be able to read engineering blueprints and tool designs.
Must have excellent problem solving skills, good written and verbal communication for interfacing with technical support team, build team, and internal and external customers, and a firm working knowledge of the
Microsoft Office Suite.
BS/MS in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent. Persuasive presentation skills. Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma Techniques. Ability to use CATIA to analyze tool designs and engineering designs. Knowledge of gage controlled tooling. Aircraft installation tooling knowledge. Aircraft modification experience.
