Aerojet Rocketdyne is a world-recognized aerospace and defense leader providing propulsion and energetics to its space, missile defense, strategic, tactical missile and armaments customers throughout domestic and international markets. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Culpeper, VA facility.
Under general supervision and following established policies, performs professional manufacturing engineering assignments requiring full use and application of standard manufacturing principles, theories, concepts and techniques.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
Responsible for providing manufacturing engineering support for production solid rocket motor programs through the application of established manufacturing engineering procedures. Assist in developing and implementing processing improvements. Assignments may involve supporting experimental investigations, feasibility studies and assisting in the planning of resources to support production requirements.
40% - Working under the direction of more senior Manufacturing Engineering staff and with guidance from Project Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Safety, Health and Environmental (SH&E) representatives, assist in the preparation and maintenance of detailed manufacturing instructions by following established manufacturing and SH&E procedures, including repair/rework instructions within a closed-loop nonconformance system.
20% - Under the guidance of more senior staff, perform technical oversight and troubleshooting of complex operations involved in assembly of electrical and mechanical components.
15% - Assist in analysis and development of practical solutions to specific manufacturing problems utilizing analytical skills and sound manufacturing engineering techniques. Accurately report problems, solutions, and results in concise written and oral communications.
15% - Assist with the design of tooling for fabrication and assembly processes. Recommend changes in design to facilitate cost effective fabrication. Assist in the preparation of detailed processing plans and process flow diagrams.
10% - Assist in preparing for and participate in process reviews. Participate in design reviews. Interface with internal/external customers.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (prefer one of the following majors: Aerospace, Chemical, Manufacturing or Mechanical) with (2) two years of directly related experience (preferably as an associate quality or manufacturing engineer) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience should include demonstrated ability in manufacturing, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and interpret and evaluate analytical and experimental data. Must be able to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with all levels of personnel both internal and external to the company. Ability to work in a team environment will be expected.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information. Having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Experience with Statistical Process Control, Six Sigma Manufacturing Methodologies, and Digital Factory are preferred.
Experience with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) is expected. Experience with Oracle is preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Work place may include areas where chemical materials are encountered. This employee may have exposure to shop environment including variable noise levels. Must customarily have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety. May be required to utilize a variety of personal protective equipment.
