Manager Purchasing (Aviation Manufacturing) (19000Y9)

Job Description

Manager Purchasing (Aviation Manufacturing)-19000Y9

Description

As a leading worldwide provider of navigation devices and wearable technology, our focus is on developing, designing and supporting superior products. Our advanced technology promotes performance, safety and ease of use in every market we serve. That makes us an engineering and technology company with a keen focus on recruiting talent in those fields. But the same vertical integration business model that keeps all design and manufacturing processes in-house also gives us the incentive to hire top performers from different backgrounds, including operations, finance and accounting, information technology, sales, marketing and communications.

In operations and facilities, we literally do it all…in-house. We are looking for skilled, energetic individuals who want to join our quality, international shipping, manufacturing, office services, planning, purchasing, receiving, returns and warehouse teams. These associates do everything from delivering packages and purchasing supplies to assembling aviation panel mounts and ensuring our large shipments of goods are exported according to applicable international laws. Together, they proactively support associates and customers alike. If you’re ready to work – and have fun, too – come, help us put the pieces together!

We are looking for a full time Manager Purchasing located at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role you will be responsible for leading procurement activities to achieve both strategic and operational success for Garmin International, Inc. Other essential functions include:

* Manage purchases to ensure delivery, quality and cost objectives are met
* Coach, lead, motivate, and evaluate associates
* Review, analyze, develop and negotiate various contracts in many fields of business
* Manage, review and approve purchase card transactions for payment
* Work closely with all major departments to develop goods and services related contracts
* Apply expertise to continually improve processes, products, services and associates
Due to the amount of resources and expense exhausted in training for this position, a minimum of one year from the start of this position will be required before an associate is eligible for a job transfer.

Qualifications

A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Management, Operations or Material preferred and a minimum of 2 years Supply Chain experience. Other required skills include:

* Demonstrated previous leadership with capability to lead change initiatives within supply chain systems and processes
* Must possess a high level of demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to work across functional and organizational lines
* Must possess a strong business acumen with solid analytical and cost management comprehension
* Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet critical deadlines
* Demonstrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) knowledge
* Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel

Candidates with a professional certification, such as Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM) are preferred. Expert knowledge of Oracle Purchasing and iProcurment modules, as well as 3+ years experience of purchasing within a manufacturing environment is a plus!

Our benefits are designed to lead an evolving marketplace, support innovation and encourage a healthy balance between work and life. They allow our associates to make their own decisions about their wellbeing and future and consistently rank Garmin as a top tier benefits provider when compared to other high-tech employers. We offer a choice of high value medical, dental and vision plans with low or no premiums, to fit your and your family’s preferences. In addition, Garmin’s financial benefits include a generous 401K retirement plan that provides 5% of pay base contribution plus a match of 75 cents for every dollar you contribute to a maximum of 10% of your compensation. The employee stock purchase plan allows for shares to be bought at a 15% discount. Garmin offers many other benefits and perks ranging from wellbeing initiatives, educational assistance and career development, community charity support, and employee discounts just to name a few.

Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer. Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, citizenship, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran’s status, age or disability.
