SUMMARY:

The Director of Maintenance is responsible to the Director of Aviation Operations for the economical and efficient accomplishment of all aircraft maintenance functions of the Repair Station in order to provide an airworthy aircraft to the customer. The Director of Maintenance is responsible for overall management of all hangar direct reports and their subordinates, and coordinates with other departments regarding the scheduling of aircraft maintenance and personnel activities. The Director of Maintenance may delegate all assigned duties to any qualified assistant as necessary. However, such delegation does not relieve the Director of Maintenance of overall responsibility.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

* Plans maintenance and directs members of staff to assure they carry out all maintenance, modification and engineering activities safely, on time, and within allocated costs.
* Responsible for aircraft, tooling, equipment, materials, and activities within the hangar and on the adjacent ramp.
* Coordinates with the Chief Inspector to ensure compliance with all Repair Station requirements.
* Coordinates with the Chief Inspector and Training Manager for the development and establishment of suitable maintenance training programs to ensure all personnel have the knowledge and experience necessary to perform their assigned duties.
* Makes periodic safety inspections of the working areas and takes necessary steps to correct any discrepancies noted.
* Responsible for the on-time completion of all maintenance and modification services.
* Continually reviews the overall maintenance effort to assure maximum safety and operating efficiency at a minimum of cost.
* Coordinates with other departments to schedule maintenance and work force to accomplish work programs as required.
* Establishes programs for the department to aid members of the supervisory staff in enforcing company policies and procedures within budget guidelines.
* Ensures sufficient quantity of properly qualified employees for the volume of work in progress.
* Establishes work standards, hours of work, and shifts to be worked.
* Reviews maintenance delays and system problems and suggests improved maintenance procedures.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

* Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
* Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.
* Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
* Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours.
* Other duties as assigned

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external)
* Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-related activities such as Time Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations, Salary Reviews, Succession Planning, etc.
* Responsible for leadership oversight and for ensuring Department/Team training

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Minimum physical requirements to perform all duties and responsibilities, as defined by management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

* Requires a BA/BS degree. Relevant work experience may substitute for required education.
* Significant maintenance and operational background in Airbus A 300 series aircraft is required.
* A current FAA issued Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Power Plant ratings in preferred.
* A current Aircraft Inspector (IA) certificate is preferred.
* Become familiar with SNC manuals and requirements of 14 CFR §43, §65, §145, §125, §121, §135 and §91.
* Thorough knowledge of all federal, state and local regulatory requirements applicable to airfield and terminal maintenance, security & safety.
* Thorough knowledge of the materials, methods & techniques used in an airport maintenance program.
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
* Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
* 5+ years’ experience in the maintenance and/or modification of large aircraft, one year which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
* Ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
* Ability to exercise judgement & discretion in applying and interpreting policies and procedures.
* Minimum Fundamental Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities as stated in SNC's Responsibility Matrix.
