Line Maintenance Control Assistant                                                                                                

Position Type:            Permanent, Full-Time

Work Pattern             Shift Working - including nights and weekends

Department:              Operations Control Centre

Location:                    East Midlands Airport

Responsible to:          Operations Control Centre Manager

Role Summary

Working with the Line Maintenance Controller to co-ordinate line maintenance activity for the network ensuring aircraft are ready for on-time dispatch and that aircraft defects are managed expeditiously and compliantly.

This role will be heavily involved in procuring and arranging for the positioning of AOG parts, tooling and personnel.


Work in support of the Line Maintenance controller to manage the rectification of line defects and recovery of AOG aircraft.

Procure AOG parts and arrange for them to be shipped to the required location as expeditiously as possible.

Arrange for the movements of manpower and tooling for the expeditious recovery of AOG aircraft.

Support the LMC by ensuring the Fleet Status Report (FSR) database is kept up to date with the latest information.

Ensure that the FSR has information in line with the engineering database (RAL).

Monitor RAL for OOP or due list items which could affect production.

Continual liaison with other operations control centre staff responsible for ops control / travel / rostering and training. Updating of managerial team on current aircraft related issues and proposed solutions.

Administrative tasks including data entry and verification.

Academic/Educational Requirements

  • Educated to ‘A’ level or equivalent

Required Skills/Experience/knowledge:

  • Minimum 5 years recent Aviation Engineering experience, preferably involved in purchasing or other logistics discipline.
  • Possess professional, friendly and customer-focused personality
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of aviation maintenance practices, and legislation for the storage of aircraft parts.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal)
  • Proven problem solving & Planning skills
  • Attention to detail and numeracy skills

Terms and Conditions:

·         Salary £25,532 plus £1,035 shift allowance.  

·         Holidays – 22 x 12 hour shifts per annum

·         Roster Pattern – 5’s and 4’s

·         Loyalty scheme up to 10% of salary
