Lead Composite Fitter
New exciting permanent position for a Lead Composite Fitter based in Stevenage!!!
Our global Aerospace and Defence are looking for an experienced Lead Composite Fitter to join their expanding team in Stevenage.
To be able to fulfil the duties and responsibilities for the role of Lead Composite Fitter you will be competent in and able to supervise others in the skill set detailed below. You will operate as a multi-skilled, adaptable worker ensuring maximum effectiveness and efficiency of those you supervise.
As a Lead Composite Fitter you will have a full knowledge of processes and tools used with composites and metallics in the aircraft industry including but not limited to:
*Setting structures in trim and assembly jigs
*Drill/Ream/Countersink in panels with Vanmar tools
*Fettling using appropriate tools and equipment
*Mixing and used of adhesives and sealants
*Treatment touch-up in localised areas on aluminium
*Ensure parts are produced on a 'right first time' basis
*Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
*Responsible for the timely completion of work tasks in line with Methods of Manufacture, Job Card and the logging of job progress in Single Point (Time Keeping System)
*Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Production Supervisors or Engineering
*Adhering to the requirements of their Methods of Manufacture and Quality Procedures
*Compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety procedures relevant to all work activities
*Reporting of all incidents, accidents and near misses as per the company's procedure and implementation of identified corrective actions
*Maintain good standards of housekeeping in designated work area(s)
Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Must have a recognised and relevant apprenticeship and have relevant previous Manufacturing Supervisor experience in an aircraft production environment.
*IT - comfortable in the use Microsoft Word and Excel
*Ability to work to Methods of Manufacture
*Must be capable of lone working and the supervision of small teams
*Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques with a willingness to support and contribute to their continuous improvement initiative
*Self-motivated team player with good communication skills
