General responsibilities of the position: ** Please note that this posting is to create a pool of candidates **
According to applicable instructions and procedures, control and evaluate parts and engines that do not comply with standards, and prescribe preliminary and final dispositions to be taken, depending on the situation and based on certain factors such as appearance, performance, safety, interchangeability, reliability and functionality. When required, evaluate parts on the premises.
Ensure that the nonconformity notice is accurate, and that the information it contains reflects the actual condition of the part and the disposition to be taken, according to the applicable quality manual. Using previous information, indicate acceptable limits and grant required authorizations. Submit those deviations that exceed similar precedents and for which there is no similar disposition applicable. Use the IT systems required for the role (SAP, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Collaborate with the production department to correct quality problems. Participate in quality improvement clinics.
Participate in groups investigating recurring problems. Suggest improvements to work techniques and procedures in order to avoid recurring problems. Communicate with departments such as Planning, Technical Support, Quality Assurance and Material Control, namely, to clarify and rate problems encountered on quality of parts. Offer expert advice to departments or people involved, by participating in problem analysis through a visualization of the operation on hand.
Specific responsibilities of position: Using work instructions, visually and dimensionally inspect parts. Set up, adjust and operate precision measuring instruments for dimensional inspections. Visually inspect parts after non-destructive tests, in order to dispose of defects shown by deposits of particles, fluorescent penetrant or the effect of acid.
Qualifications required: • Vocational diploma (DEP) in machining techniques
• College diploma in mechanical engineering or aircraft construction (Aerospace engineering)
• IT knowledge: MS Office and SAP are an advantage
• Metrology experience (two to five years)
• Very good ability to read drawings
• Fluency in French (written and verbal); knowledge of English considered an asset
• High level of autonomy and resourcefulness
• Interpersonal skills: team player and positive attitude
• Flair for problem solving and an analytical mind
• Experience in an industrial environment
• Parts classification rules knowledge considered an asset
