Summary Description: Schedules, trains, monitors and coaches first-article, receiving, machining and assembly inspectors, CMM programmers and CMM operators. Is responsible for the quality of the inspections performed, the safety of the inspectors and the achievement of the defined throughput requirements. Ensures the quality and reliability of products by verifying conformance to technical specifications.

Requirements:

* Minimum (all levels)

* Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year college or equivalent related experience and/or training.

* The ability to use hands and arms to lift, handle, feel and reach.

* The ability to sit or stand for at least 10 hours a day.

* The ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

* Must wear required personal protective equipment.

* Must contribute to a positive work environment.

* Meets established standards for productivity and quality. Confers with manager when problems arise which impact expected level of performance.

* Performs any task required to support customer requirements and company goals.

* Experience/Abilities

* 8+ years of experience in quality assurance

* Strong leadership skills resulting in the ability to set a vision and coordinate with tem members to achieve it

* Thorough knowledge of measurement and inspection

* Basic knowledge of CMM programming, operation and inspection

* Can perform multiple operations and handle complex work

* Handles non routine problems

* Operates autonomously on day to day basis

* Skilled in work priority management and employee scheduling

* Ability to provide constructive leadership through the use of good communication and accountability

* Ability to use, interpret and train individuals in the use of aircraft drawings, specifications, and blueprints.

* Ability to write routine and complex reports and business correspondence and communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees.

* Ability to develop project plan and execute, achieving results within required time frame

* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

* Ability to carry out and provide instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

* Ability to proficiently conduct geometric and positional dimensioning and tolerancing.

* Ability to utilize on-line data systems and electronic media along with printed materials in order to accomplish tasks.

* Ability to use surface plates, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), calipers, bore gages, micrometers, height gages, and other precision measuring devices, instruments, and equipment.

* Duties/Responsibilities

* Evaluates the performance of first article, receiving, assembly, machining, and CMM inspectors.

* Provides leadership to inspection team.

* Provides coaching and training to inspectors and employees in relation to inspection related subject matters, product quality, throughput and work ethics.

* Reports out to senior leadership on inspection productivity, improvements and assistance needs.

* Monitors employee safety and takes actions to ensure a zero injury environment.

* Evaluates workload requirements and schedules coverage as needed to achieve throughput requirements.

* Manages and works on process improvement projects, achieving required results within defined time frame.

* Identify and implement activities to improve quality and streamline inspection activities

* Recommends modifications of existing quality or production methods to achieve optimum equipment capability and product quality.

* Manages training identification, completion and record retention for inspectors.

* Manages inspector timekeeping

* Approve QA Inspector payroll

* Participates in the daily MRB

* Utilizes computer systems to prioritize inspection work, monitor employee productivity, schedule coverage and evaluate ability to achieve quality requirements.

* Assists in scheduling and conducting periodic audits of manufacturing processes to ensure all quality standards are fully documented and implemented.

* Ensured COP audits are supported and completed per the audit schedule

* Maintains quality records and files.

* Acts as an inspector when needed to meet production goals, but not at the sacrifice of projects or supervision responsibilities.

* Supports quality audits conducted by internal audit teams, customer representatives or registrars.

* Works autonomously with little to no supervision. Prioritizes work in order to meet commitments and deadlines.
