What we are doing?

Our Workplace Safety department delivers proactive engagement with leaders within Virgin Australia to facilitate the application of prevention, claims and rehabilitation systems and processes into day-to-day business activities to allow our leaders to effectively manage workplace risk and deliver improved safety outcomes.

The Workplace Safety department take personal accountability for connecting, coaching and empowering people to proactively achieve positive health, safety and wellbeing outcomes which lead to improved culture, compliance and an engaged workforce.

About the role

Reporting to the Group Workers Compensation Manager, you will work in a standalone role and act a focal point for our Managers and Leaders, providing specialist advice, training and guidance on workers compensation functions. As an expert in your field you will actively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and oversee our Injury Management process, with the overall goal to maintain effective Return to work rates and influence claims cost.

About you

Applying your high degree of veracity and technical ability, you will undertake complex and diverse workplace inspections of Virgin Australia Group business units and externally contracted providers to ensure compliance with the applicable Work, Health and Safety regulations, Virgin Australia Group procedures and other safety standards, procedures and contracted requirements.

To be a standout candidate, you will have experience in managing work place injuries gained from an allied health background and have comprehensive knowledge of Comcare and traditional schemes. A background as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist would be highly advantageous and set you up for success in this role.

To complement your experience, you will have:

* Relevant tertiary qualifications or be a certified Return to Work Coordinator

* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role

* Effective communication skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally

* Ability to make high level, complex and critical decisions within minimal supervision and or support
