Position description

Roughly 8’000 own and third party employees handle more than 85 million passengers on over 750’000 flights to 250 destinations per year: This is the Lufthansa Group Ground Operations Hub Airlines. The Steering & Support (HG/S) organization supports the worldwide stations and four hubs (FRA, MUC, VIE and ZRH) of Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS in their daily work and in exceptional situations. The SWISS Ground Services Competence Center (GSCC) forms part of this organization.

As Head of the SWISS Ground Services Competence Center (GSCC), you are responsible for the functional and disciplinary leadership of the GSCC, which includes the SWISS FM First Level Support as well as the functional responsibility and oversight over the outsourced Airport Ticketing Office (ATO) Competence Center. The GSCC is providing ground operations support and guidance to the outstations for SWISS flights and at the same time remotely observing, supervising and cross-examining the outsourced station operations.

Your Duties

* Lead and manage the GSCC, including SWISS FM First Level Support and outsourced ATO Competence Center; assuring the performance of the unit and its team members
* Disciplinary leadership of the GSCC team members (incl. adequate staffing and training)
* Ensure procedures, guidelines and the infrastructure of the organization
* Represent Ground Operations in the daily operations at the SWISS Operations Control Center
* Working duty shifts within the GSCC organization as part of the team
* Provide support and guidance to the outstations for handling of SWISS flights
* Remote observation, supervision and cross-examination of outsourced station operations
* Close cooperation within Lufthansa Ground Operations Hub Airlines, SWISS Ground Operations and Swiss Ground Safety
* Provide quality reporting and statistics
* Conduct ground handling audits as mandated by FOCA on behalf of SWISS Ground Safety and coordinate audits performed by team members
* Responsible for processing ground handling-related reports in SWISS Reporting System (SRS)

Requirements

* High school certificate, Bachelor degree or similar education
* Strong analytical capabilities
* Profound leadership skills
* Strong communication skills and assertiveness
* Customer-oriented mindset
* IT proficiency
* Ground Operations background (sound Ground Handling as well as Altea CM & FM knowledge preferred)
* Very good command of German and English, written and spoken (French is an asset)
* Group solution oriented thinking and ability to synthesize
* Strong networking and negotiation skills
* Blends strong organizational and operational skills with good business acumen
* Able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time efficiently
* Economical thinking and understanding
