Excel Technical Consulting is currently seeking a Head of Maintenance professional to join a valued and longstanding client of ours permanently in the UK!!

As the Head of Maintenance you will be responsible for setting the Part145 training standards and technical competence for all staff within the 145 and AEA environments.  In order to assure confidence that the staff are suitably qualified experienced personnel & manage all 145/AEA approvals. 

Where there are known gaps you will work with the Head of Operations, Training Manager and Head of Human Resources to develop training strategies and programmes in order to maintain our SQEP balance. 

Responsibilities and duties required

Responsible for the engineering standards and practices across the aircraft operational areas in accordance with the MOE and to a standard acceptable to the organisation and EASA /CAA/MAA and Duty Holder

Safely deliver all maintenance for which the organisation is approved, and notifying the Accountable Manager whenever deficiencies emerge

Responsible for the generation of the maximum number of ac possible to deliver the contract

Lead the interaction between the Part 145 and Procurement teams to ensure the platform Asset

Ensure parity of engineering judgement and decision making across the individual sites, in accordance with the MOE and aircraft’s document sets

Assessing and reviewing the competence of personnel employed in maintenance by the organisation and certifying them for tasks for which they are approved

Reporting to the Head of Airworthiness, Head of Operations, Engineering Delivery Director, Accountable Manager and to the Authority of any condition of an aircraft or component which may pose a hazard to safety or continuing airworthiness

Ensuring that Maintenance Procedures are established and published within the organisation, to achieve good maintenance practices and comply with the organisation’s approval

 Own and manage the Base Maintenance programme, including all staff allocated to Base Maintenance by the Head of Operations to ensure delivery of the task loading set by Part M

Own the maintenance manhour plan for each operational site and ensure there’s sufficient SQEP at each site to deliver safe operations

 Liaise with the Supply/Procurement/asset team to ensure the aircraft maintenance fleet plan is developed with a coherent strategic asset and spares procurement plan

Own the nGen (ERP) development for the Part 145 organisation

Review the platform’s reliability and maintenance with the Part M organisation

In conjunction with the Head of Operations, site managers and training manager specify the training standards for each Part145 job type and produce a Statement of Training Requirement for the Head of Operations to train their staff against the (Statement of Training Needs)

Maintaining exceptional working relationships with all key stakeholders

Line management of site managers and ensuring that effective communication is maintained across all areas

Supporting the Commercial and Head of Operations at the Monthly Moderation Meeting (MMM

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Competencies Required:

Excellent knowledge of managing large fleets of aircraft, either within a Civilian or Military environment

Demonstrate a knowledge and application of Part 145, MRP 145 environments and Part M regulations

Skill set to be awarded a Part 145 Form 4 from the CAA

Knowledge of Continuous Improvement and Quality Assurance

Understanding of Part 66 license qualifications

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programmes

A clear understanding of ac ERP systems, preferably a Rusada product

 Demonstrate the ability to communicate at all levels within and external to the organisation

Proven Project Management experience

Degree in aeronautical engineering and/or suitable aviation experience to hold a CAA Form 4 holder

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

Experience in a Military Environment, is desirable in order to understand our end-user’s requirements and ethos

Experience of managing dispersed sites.

Customer facing experience

Previous holder of a Part 145 Form 4 Holder

 Essential Competencies Required:

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Diplomatic and customer focused

Strong IT skills

Fluent, both written and verbal, in English 

Full UK driver’s licence 

Due to the nature of our client’s operations you must be eligible to achieve SC Clearance, in order for this you must have lived in the UK for 3 years or more.

In return we can offer an annual salary of £60,000 to £65,000 dependent on experience plus various benefits.

You will be working a 40 hour week, Monday to Friday.
