Ground Operations Safety & Compliance Executive

Our client, an all-cargo airline based at Stansted Airport have a permanent opportunity for a Ground Operations Safety & Compliance Executive.

As part of the Ground Operations Management Team, the Ground Operations Safety & Compliance Executive will be the focal point for Safety and Compliance within the Ground Operations department

You will also:
* Provide monitoring, support and direction across all reportable locations worldwide, according to the standards and requirements of the company
* Provide reports on availability of suitable service providers for Ground Operations services, and develop selection and contract preparation processes for onward approval
* Ensure the proper and timely performance of duties assigned.

Main Duties
* Act as the focal point, and be responsible, for the development, administration and maintenance of an effective safety management system within the Ground Operations department.
* Develop and manage a system of Compliance Assurance audits and inspections based on the Management System Manual using the Centrik system, to include, but not be limited to:
- Pre-operational Station Assessments
- Ground de-icing/anti-icing
- Ground support services
- Load control, mass, balance and aircraft loading
- Aircraft ground handling operations
- Carriage of Dangerous Goods
* Facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis and management
* Monitor the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the Safety Action Plan
* Provide periodic reports on safety performance
* Ensure maintenance of safety management documentation
* Provide advice on safety matters
* Ensure initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence/accident investigations
* Verify that corrective actions are planned and taken by the responsible managers to correct and prevent future non-compliances - include a root cause analysis process using the Centrik system
* Evaluate the effectiveness of the corrective action by verification audits as appropriate to the finding.
* Report on and discuss all matters relating to Compliance with the Director Ground Operations and Director Safety and Compliance
* Carry out regular audits and inspections of all parts of the ground operation and sub contracted activities using the Centrik system and its checklists
* Along with Director Ground Operations and Director Safety and Compliance, periodically review the Compliance Monitoring System to ensure that it is suitable to support the high operational standards required of the department
* Investigation and assessment of suppliers/service providers for charter and scheduled operations
* Undertake station visits and perform assessments and audits of service providers to ensure sustainable operations
* Management-level liaison with service providers and reportable departments including meetings and conference calls
* Updating and administration of the Centrik system with relevant Ground Operations information and documentation
* Provide appropriate guidance to other departments and less experienced colleagues
* Maintain an in-depth knowledge of company operations, manufacturer and operator documentation, regulating authority requirements, relevant systems and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience Required
* Operational management experience and a technical background sufficient to understand the systems that support the organisation
* Background of higher education
* Experience of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations
* Experience of worldwide ground operations and remote location operations
* Team Player
* Computer Literate
* Project Management skills
* Must be able to work with minimum supervision
* Must be prepared to travel to foreign locations, at short notice, for extended periods of time, as is reasonably required by the company
* Must hold a full UK Driving License
