Role & Responsibilities

As the company’s Ground Operations Manager, you will report to the Head of Operations and be responsible for the ground operations department and its staff. You will also be responsible for meeting all regulatory requirements as well as commercial targets and company KPI’s. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Monitoring the performance of all contracted Ground Handling Agencies to ensure that safe Ground Handing of all Company aircraft and investigating any deficiencies in service delivery and on-time performance.
  • Oversight of Operations Control, Crew Control and Rostering to ensure that the Company operates within the parameters of its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) and Operations Manual.
  • The recruitment, training, management, administration, and welfare of all Operations and Ramp staff.
  • To oversee the production and maintenance of the Ground Operations Procedures and ensure continued self-audit programme in accordance with the Management System.
  • Monitoring the performance of all Operations staff and ensuring goals and targets are set and achieved through training and development.
  • Ensuring the provision and maintenance of all required Operational systems.
  • The compilation and dissemination of performance indicators and delay statistics to all relevant parties.
  • Maintaining a positive oversight and awareness of relevant operating and commercial costs, to allow sensible evaluation of alternative operational options. Including a review of handling agents, Fuel providers and charges.
  • Maintaining liaison with ATC authorities (CFMU, NATS, Eurocontrol).
  • Maintaining liaison with other carriers and industry groups to pool relevant information.
  • Ensuring that relevant problems highlighted by Journey Logs or other indicators are investigated in a timely manner by the relevant sections of Operations and that introduction of remedial action to prevent reoccurrence and improve Company performance is implemented.
  • Ensuring that all Departmental expenses are correctly documented and processed (Airline travel, HOTAC, Company Credit Card)
  • With the Head of Flight Operations and Safety and Compliance Monitoring Manager, ensuring that the Company Emergency Response Plan is effective and practiced on a regular basis.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Accountable Manager or Head of Flight Operations.
  • Reporting any crew duty illegalities to the Head of Flight Operations daily.
  • The interpretation and efficient operation of the Flight Time Limitations scheme.
  • Managing the preparation and publication of the duty roster for both Flight Deck and Operations and ensuring it is published monthly and covering a calendar month.
  • The oversight of the Ground Operations Department staff.

Roles Description

  • Maintenance of records of all aircrew flying, duty and rest periods in accordance with the approved Company Flight Time Limitations Scheme.
  • The rostering of the Flight Deck crew members.
  • The crewing of the Flight Deck crew members.
  • The efficient processing and control of all ground travel arrangements and hotel arrangements for flight crew and other crew as required and the incurred costs involved.
  • Liaison with Airport Authorities and associated Service Providers to ensure that the best possible facilities and services are afforded to the Company.
  • Promoting safety awareness and actively encouraging open reporting and feedback.
  • In consultation with the Safety and Compliance Monitoring Manager and other Nominated Post Holders, monitoring the Company Management System, on behalf of the Accountable Manager, to ensure the operation of the Company complies with:
  • Stated Company policy.
  • Authority and EASA Regulations.
  • Legal requirements both in the Country and overseas
  • Crew licences and qualifications are valid for the periods throughout which crew members are scheduled to fly.
  • Crew members’ proficiency has been checked and found satisfactory at the specified intervals.
  • The requisite flight, personnel and maintenance records are being retained, analysed and stored for the statutory periods in order that the Company’s established quality control procedures may be effectively implemented. (See Appendix A):
  • RVL shall preserve the information used for the preparation and execution of a flight and personnel training records, even if RVL ceases to be the operator of that aircraft or the employer of that crew member, provided this is within the timescales prescribed in Appendix A.
  • If a crew member becomes a crew member for another operator, RVL shall make the crew member’s records available to the new operator, provided this is within the timescales prescribed in Appendix A.
  • Operations personnel are competent to perform their duties and those levels of competence are monitored.
  • Any other adhoc duties as required by the company.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Nominated Form 4 Post-Holder, Ground Operations.
  • Heavy aircraft operational experience.
  • Previous experience supervising or managing teams.
  • High degree of personal and professional flexibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal, project coordination skills and time management.
  • Excellent standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • Ability to think outside the box and make decisions under pressure.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.

Other Requirements

Full UK driving licence; Passport; Right to live and work in the UK.
