The Co-Op Flight Safety Investigations responsibilities include providing support to the Flight Safety Accident/Incident Investigation Team, Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA), and Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP). The data collected through these programs supports Delta's Safety Management System (SMS), which is a cornerstone of Delta's proactive accident and incident prevention system to track, trend and resolve aviation hazards. This position will include exposure to the full investigative process, in which a successful candidate will be responsible for collecting factual data, such as damage data, injury information, meteorological conditions, crew background, human performance data, flight recorder data, and other relevant investigative data.
Applicants must be in a degree seeking program, have strong written and verbal communication skills, possess a current passport, and be willing to travel as required. Applicants must have at least three (3) work semesters available. The following are preferred qualifications: 1) the degree should include a specialization in aviation, 2) flight experience, and 3) a passion for safety, 4) proficiency with MS Office applications, especially Excel, Project, Visio, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook. A successful candidate should be highly motivated with the desire to learn and have a passion for safety.
