I am working with a fantastic client who are looking for a Flight Operations Inspector to join them in Mauritius. As a Flight Operations Inspector you will perform aviation inspection tasks on behalf of the Directorate of Civil Aviation of Mauritius. The Flight Operations Inspector will do audit, inspections, assessment to the air operators and other organisations under the responsibility of the DCAM, and will issue recommendations for the issuance, continuation, renewal, suspension or revocation of approvals, certificates, licences in the field of air operations

Job Summary

 

  • Assist the DCAM in the day to day Flight Operation surveillance duties;
  • Perform the mentoring/training of local Flight Operations Inspectors;
  • Provide necessary advice and recommendations on the amendment to the Mauritius Civil Aviation Regulations (MCAR), Requirements etc. whenever there are amendments to ICAO Annexes and the EU or EASA Regulations/requirements, and the necessary procedures amendments;
  • Assist the DCAM for the conduct of Aircraft accident and incident investigations;
  • Carry out SAFA/SANA inspections in Mauritius airports;
  • Assist in the continued Surveillance of Air Operator Certificate Holders, Training Organisations, Flight Crew Training, and Synthetic Devices use for training;
  • Advise in the processing of application for the issuance of Flight Crew Licences and its Ratings and the issuance of Cabin Crew Member Certificates;
  • Observe Examiners and Instructors before granting the initial privileges;
  • Liaise with the Airworthiness, Personnel Licensing, Aviation Security Unit, Air Traffic Management and Aerodrome units as and when required for assessment of project from promoters and issuance of Air Operator Certificate etc.;
 

This position implies occasionally international business trips to Europe, Asia and Africa.

 

Requirements

 

  • Holder of a Pilot licence ATPL (Airplane), the FOI need to justify more than 5000 flight hours as Pilot in Command, five years of working experience, and experience working as an authorised Flight Operations Inspector in an ICAO Member State Civil Aviation Authority. English Proficiency Level 6 is required.
  • Solid knowledge of the ICAO and EASA regulations, specifically those related to air operations (AIR OPS and FCL)
  • Received a training as safety inspector and followed a course on Aircraft Accident/Incident investigation.
  • To demonstrate experience in the implementation of ICAO/EASA regulations in a CAA
  • Knowledge of the requirements for the transport of Dangerous Goods by air
  • Knowledge of the SAFA/SANA inspections
  • Knowledge of the SMS concept in airlines and ATOs
  • Familiarity with regulatory IT tools (ideally eAuthority and ECCAIRS)
