Fitter & Turner

$65,000 - $69,999

Maintain and repair high-tech aviation-related equipment

Learn new trade skills to help progress your career

Enjoy an excellent salary package plus travel and numerous benefits

Make the most of your trade qualifications working in a dynamic team environment, maintaining advanced Air Force systems and equipment.

Opportunity

As an Air Force Fitter and Turner, maintain and repair advanced systems and equipment while enjoying:

• a good salary plus generous superannuation

• ongoing investment in your personal and career development

• free medical and dental

• job security and a good work/life balance

• rewarding work and world-class training

• subsidised accommodation

• a supportive team environment

• travel and leave entitlements

• free access to sports and fitness facilities

• friendships that last a lifetime

All that plus meaningful experiences such as joining peacekeeping missions and supporting communities in need.

Your role

Many tradies spend their days maintaining and repairing the same types of motor vehicles, electrical equipment and hydraulic systems, in specialised roles with little variety. Now imagine the job satisfaction of doing the same job but with:

• Air Force vehicles

• aviation ground support equipment

• aircraft arrestor systems

• weapons

• refuelling equipment, and

• advanced aviation components.

The techniques are similar but the work is far more varied and rewarding.

As a Fitter & Turner in the Air Force (we call them Ground Mechanical Engineering Fitters) no two days will ever be the same. You'll experience a variety of workplaces too, as your well-equipped workshop could be on an Australian air base, in a temporary facility in the field, or even overseas.

If you’re trade qualified and looking for an ambitious new challenge, this is your chance to embark on a really worthwhile career. Better still, you’ll be working for a dynamic organisation that offers a great lifestyle plus opportunities you simply won’t find anywhere else.

Sounds good? Then apply now (below).

Salary

• Fully-paid training

• Once trained, starting package depends on experience and skill level but will be a minimum of approx. $69,045 p.a. plus superannuation (salaries correct as of 01/08/2019)

• Numerous other benefits

Location

• Training in Wagga Wagga, NSW

• Then posting to one of the many Air Force locations across Australia

Entry Requirements

• 17 to 55 years of age

• Australian Citizen

• Year 10 completion with a pass in English

• (minimum of) Certificate III in the engineering/mechanical trade

Medical and fitness guidelines also apply.
