Volantes Technical Recruitment are seeking a facilities and security manager for a leading aviation client in the south of England.

The role: The Facilities and Security Manager will have overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and secure running of the Bournemouth site, aligned with the strategy of the engineering business, and requirements of Government List X sites. There is potential for this role to be responsible for facilities management across all UK Engineering sites, with the appropriate candidate.

Main Responsibilities:
 

  • Day-to-day facilities management of the Bournemouth site, associated paperwork and contracts management.
  • To act as the single point of contact for all list-X contracts and proactively drive/enforce policy to ensure that we remain compliant with government security requirements.
  • Coordinate and maintain the emergency response plans – including fire, first aid and environmental control.
  • Manage the security infrastructure ie access control, cctv, alarms etc and procedures for key and document storage. Conduct internal and support external security audits.
  • Develop and maintain the Company Security Manual and ensure compliance with contracted Security Aspects Letters (SALs). Conduct staff briefings as required and assist with internal investigations for any breach of policy to help identify route cause and remedial actions.
  • Proactive management of building faults and continuous improvement
  • Conduct new starter inductions, and associated paperwork
  • Conduct contractor inductions, and associated paperwork
  • Helping to identifying hazards within the workplace and assisting the HSE team to ensure that the Company is compliant with relevant HSE legislation
  • Contribute to maintaining environmental standards
  • Promote safety culture, wellbeing and influence positive change across the site
  • Contribute to the business plans, policies, procedures and other management objectives
  • Work with external organisations and contractors for the provision of services, delivery of training, and safe working practices
  • Emergency repairs, as necessary
  • Producing and compiling RFQ (request for quotes) and continuous due diligence of suppliers
  • Plant management – general maintenance and repairs, equipment maintenance, routine checks
  • Record and enact facilities requests – from large capital expenditure to small day-to-day maintenance
  • Ensure serviceability of all facilities vital systems
  • Plan work tasks – costs / schedules
  • Maintain compliance with all necessary standards (e.g. electrical inspections)
  • Manage keyholders, site access and security
  • Manage building plans
  • Carry out physical tasks where necessary – e.g. moving furniture, etc.
  • Emphasis on effective management of sub-contractors for alarms etc, ensuring KPIs for response/call out times are met.
  • Owning the facilities and security budget



Requirements:

Necessary:

  • Significant experience of managing large, secure manufacturing or engineering facilities.
  • Experience and understanding of physical security requirements
  • Experience of working at leadership level and reporting to senior management
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to manage the relationship with our allocated Counter Terrorism Security Adviser (CTSA).
  • Willingness to travel to other UK sites as required
  • “Can-do” attitude, driving positive engagement with all stakeholders in the business


Preferable:

  • Experience of aviation, and hangar maintenance / facilities requirements
  • Understanding of the requirements of Government List X facilities for securing classified material.
  • Good working knowledge of the appropriate HSE requirements for safe facilities management
