Facilities, Security and Health & Safety Manager

Base:              Glasgow Airport

Salary:            Dependent on Experience.

Conditions:    Must hold a valid UK Driving Licence. Must meet the requirement to hold a valid Airside Security Pass.

The role is an integral part of the Scotland’s region’s operational and compliance structure, ensuring effective and efficient day to day operations of the company’s business activities. The role utilises all available resources to maintain compliance with HSE legislation relating to Facilities Management through the co-ordination of statutory maintenance and inspection. This role reports into the Business Manager for Scotland and it will be based at our Facility at Glasgow Airport. 

Principal accountabilities:

  • Be the first point of contact for building and maintenance issues.
  • To ensure the safe maintenance and secure operation of the premises at each base.
  • Maintain required records in relation to all statutory checks and inspections.
  • Provide effective HR and personnel management support to head office in respect of Office, FBO and Ground Handling staff in Scotland.
  • Provide support to Gael BMM in respect of facilities and office infrastructure to help ensure successful delivery of 145 activities in Scotland.
  • Agreeing contracts and providers for services including security, parking etc.
  • Maintain clear and effective lines of communication between all Company departments and Gama’s Scottish bases ensuring the prompt dissemination of all operational, commercial or safety critical information.
  • Local client liaison and ensuring that the highest levels of customer service are always maintained to all clients.
  • Management of all Gael facilities in Scotland ensuring that they:
    • are maintained to a high standard throughout;
    • meet regulatory/health and safety requirements throughout;
    • provide necessary services and infrastructure for customer and internal staff use, e.g. reception, lounge and office facilities continue to be provided and maintained to a high standard.
  • Ensure the continued regulatory & legal compliance across all business activity. Typical examples include, but are not limited to:
    • Direct liaison with key airfield contacts for the purposes of compliance, service provision and security
    • Establish and maintain contractual service agreements for Company facilities and aircraft services.
    • Ensure the continued function, presentation and legal compliance of Scotland based facilities.
    • Oversight of all facilities, FBO and ground handling staff training, working practices and processes.
    • Overseeing building projects, renovations or refurbishment.
    • Ensure compliance with all Gama Aviation’s Health & Safety policies and processes.
    • Assist in the communication of safety information, safety messages and the use of risk controls
    • Administer company security ID systems at Glasgow and Aberdeen airports.
    • Manage new staff inductions. Provide health and safety inductions for contractors.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in facilities management within the aviation sector is desirable.
  • A passion for service delivery with knowledge of working in a highly regulated industry.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Flexibility – ‘can-do’ attitude required to cover a variety of tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet these requirements working with and establishing relationships with third party contractors as required.
  • Established network of relationships with relevant third-party contractors in Scotland to support efficient running of our facilities within regulatory framework.
  • Established network of relationships with key personnel and decision makers at Glasgow and Aberdeen airports where Gael’s main facilities are based.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proactive in problem identification and resolution, with willingness to complete ad hoc tasks as they arise.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with ability to plan and priorities activities across a range of fronts.
  • Excellent communication skills across multiple stakeholder both internally within Gama and also externally with customers, suppliers and airport authorities.
  • Fully computer literate – including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and email.  The ability to grasp new processes and procedures within the stock control system is essential.
  • Willingness to travel to Aberdeen facility as required.

Hours:  Working a 40-hour week with some flexibility of hours between 08.30 – 17.30 Monday to Friday, with half an hour for lunch.  (Times to be agreed)

Utmost discretion required due to nature of business with much VIP contact and liaison required.
