Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate all engineering and maintenance safety and security related occurrences and non-compliance reports.
  • Active management of the reporting system, to facilitate the identification, risk analysis and management of hazards identified, to ensure that an unacceptable risk is eliminated, or is reduced to an acceptable level.
  • Oversee the risk management process that includes hazard identification, risk assessment and risk mitigation.
  • Identify Change Management activities that arise in the Engineering and Maintenance departments and ensure that the associate change management processes are applied.
  • Support the Safety Manager with the application of the company Safety Management System across the Engineering and Maintenance departments
  • Participate in the revision of safety related documentation and information to ensure it is maintained up to date and in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Ensure procedural updates are acknowledged and disseminated.
  • Assist engineering and maintenance teams with investigation of departmental occurrences, incidents or accidents including making recommendations to operational management in respect of these.
  • Provide feedback, as appropriate, for the continuing education and interest of operational and other personnel.
  • Provide services to assist operational managers in their role of ensuring safe and secure operations. These services include the provision of reports of operational performance of the engineering and maintenance Department against stated performance measures, highlighting trends where identified.
  • Represent Stobart Air interests with the Airport Authorities and third party service providers as required
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of safety management training and safety promotional material to ensure that they meet sufficient standards.
  • Support the Safety Manager with the application of the company Safety Management System
  • Assist the Head of Engineering and the Head of Maintenance in coordinating matters of strategic safety, through the Safety and Compliance Review Board and/or Safety Action Group(s), in support of the Accountable Manager’s safety accountability.
  • Promote and develop a Just and Safety Culture across the airline.
  • Support Engineering and Maintenance Departments in addressing audit findings and observations.
  • Prepare IOSA Conformance Report for Engineering and Maintenance.
  • Travel to other locations as required.
  • Other tasks as delegated by the Technical Services Manager or Director of Engineering 

Minimum Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3 years engineering or maintenance experience essential;
  • Sound knowledge of safety management principles and practices;
  • Previous  experience within a regulated environment is desired
  • Excellent computer skills including spreadsheets (ability to manipulate / interpret data in MS Excel), word processing and presentation packages;
  • Previous experience with Q-Pulse an advantage;
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships;
  • Proactive and responsible individual, with the ability to drive initiatives at all levels of the operation;
  • Capability to work successfully alone and as part of a close team;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
