The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Electronics Packaging Engineer (Level 3) to join the Electronic Products (EP) team located in Huntsville, AL. The successful applicant will become part of Boeing’s core Electronics Design team and support / work in the Electrical Engineering area.
The Huntsville EP organization supports a diverse portfolio of customers including Department of Defense, NASA, Homeland Security and Boeing Commercial Aircraft. The team is responsible for Electrical / Electronic Hardware, Test Equipment, Avionics, Smart Battery System and Wire Harness Design.
Your duties as an engineer will include (but are not limited to):
This position has responsibilities in the areas of the following: Embedded Firmware Design, Circuit Design, Schematic Capture, Board Layout, Circuit Simulation and C++ Programming
Lead analysis of customer and system requirements and development of architectural approaches and detailed specifications for various electronic products
Lead development of high-level and detailed designs consistent with requirements and specifications
Lead reviews of testing and analysis activity to assure compliance to requirements
Identify, track and status technical performance measures to measure progress and ensure compliance with requirements
Lead activities in support of Supplier Management with make / buy recommendations and other technical services
Coordinate engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the product
Plan research projects to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements
Experience in translating requirements into hardware designs
Experience in designing prototype and flight electronics packaging (housings, panels, test racks, etc.) in accordance to meet the requirements of the customer
Experience in developing 3D CAD models and/or drawings to be used for hardware production
Prior experience working closely with vendors to produce hardware on schedule and cost
Knowledge of applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5-1M as required to drawings / models
A basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical design techniques, parts, materials and processes related to electrical / electronic components and assemblies
Experience in leading & participation in continuous improvement / Lean projects

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance
Electrical / electronic hardware design experience
Experience with 3D CAD modeling
Experience building prototype test equipment hardware
Experience in Electronic Packaging Design
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience):
Mechanical thermal analysis experience
Typical Education / Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
