Database Administrator


As Database Administrator, you are responsible for our DBMS systems throughout their lifecycle. You work with various internal and external stakeholders for both hosted as well as on premise solutions.


Your main responsibility will be to ensure all solutions are performing according to specified metrics and to put in place remediation plans where performance & availability objectives can’t be met. You ensure issues are dealt with per agreed SLA’s and documentation is kept up to date. You suggest more secure, more cost efficient or enhanced performance where relevant.

More specifically, you:

* understand how solutions are implemented and relate to others. You play and advising role between infrastructure and development (“Subject Matter Expert”)

* develop strong relationships and conduct regular service level meetings with external suppliers to drive performance

* ensure that solutions adhere to agreed Disaster Recovery standards

* assess the impact of changes and facilitate efficient implementations, while avoiding potential damage to the solution (“change management”)

* report on performance, uptime, incidents, changes, patch levels and so on


* You are a solution minded facilitator

* You know your DBMS stuff, mainly Microsoft SQL and ideally also Oracle

* You love building relationships inside and outside the airline. You are a communicative, pro-active, flexible team player with high customer awareness

* You do well under pressure and you are capable of driving structure in complex environments

* You hold a Bachelor in IT or equivalent through experience with 10y of experience as Database Administrator

* You have experience working with third parties and non-technical teams in heavily outsourced environments. Airline Experience is a valuable asset

* You have practical knowledge of IT technologies and working practices (ITIL)

You believe good documentation is part of every solution delivered and writing documentation is not the last phase in your work
