My well-established client is based in Glasgow. They are now seeking a Customs Officer to join their team on a permanent basis to ensure any goods imported and exported between the UK and Europe are transported compliantly.

The Customs Officer will require previous import/export administration experience and be confident in picking up new software quickly.

Main responsibilities:
· Ensure that all the goods received and exported are going through the appropriate customs procedures
· Work closely with our forwarders to prevent any delays due to the customs clearance process
· Work closely with Finance Department and Engineering Business Partner to ensure all the customs entries were recorded and easily available for HMRC
· Apply for licences and certificates where appropriate
· Record and report ODS or other goods with special requirements that we import, export, sell or destroy
· Determine the Commodity Code for the goods moved between EU and UK
· Check product descriptions are accurate and compliant with commodity code
· Determine the reasons for Export and log CPC Code
· Determine the Country of Origin for goods
· Ensure the commercial invoice is properly raised and within the timeframe required (within one hour before the parcel is collected)
· Ensure that store personnel are properly using Oases and recording the customs entry number and other relevant information required to easily identify an entry and present evidence to HMRC.

Ideal candidate profile:
· Competent user of MS Office. Oases knowledge beneficial but not essential
· Previous employment and working knowledge within an import/export/customs compliance role. Plus a strong understanding of UK & EU regulations.
· Strong time management skills, working to tight deadlines, with an ability to frequently reprioritise
· Excellent attention to detail essential

· Mon-Fri. 40 hours per week
· Salary: £28K-£32K depending on experience
