Crew Systems Engineer

Responsibilities and Qualifications

* Design and optimize crew systems equipment and crew interfaces with B330 spacecraft systems
* Prototype B330 Command and Control, Galley, Crew Exercise equipment using commercial and off-the-shelf components
* Validate design requirements and B330 crew system design philosophies by executing test programs using analysis and trade studies
* Support product development efforts to identify crew interface enhancements to increase B330 safety on orbit
* Use a cross departmental collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify requirements
* Participate on design teams, as well as coordinating with Avionics and other engineering groups, Bigelow Aerospace astronauts, customer personnel, industry and suppliers
* Ensure practical application of Bigelow Aerospace and NASA human factors design principles, commonality and integration within business case targets
* Focus areas may include some or all of the following: crew procedures, crew training information, human factors/cognition, ergonomic analysis, crew exercise equipment, crew galley, crew hygiene, crew inventory and management, stowaging and packaging, maintenance and toolkit, command and control display formats, flight crew personal electronic devices, menus and control; display hardware, crew alerts and indications, failure effects; communication equipment, lighting, commercial payloads
* 5+ years’ experience in a relevant discipline
* Bachelor or Master of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, human factors, or exercise physiology
* Experience in the space industry is a plus
* Must have the ability to effectively communicate with diverse engineering teams in order to establish a consensus on complex technical issues

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
