Description:

Oversees and directs all operations and activities of the Part 145 FAA Component Overhaul Repair Station. Demonstrates strong leadership by having a bias for action while achieving goals in the areas of profitability, production, turnaround time, and customer satisfaction. Engages in rigorous process improvement to meet and exceed operating goals. Responsible for all production, training, and personnel management. Reports directly to the Senior Manager, Component Services.

Examples of work performed in this classification include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

* Provide direct supervision and support for nine Crew Chiefs.

* Develop production plans consistent with the goals and objectives of the repair station.

* Arrange for and provide adequate staffing to meet the production schedules.

* Provide direction in support of each production area, including manpower, work assignments, scheduling of overtime, and training.

* Review and maintain department expense budgets and produce variance reports.

* Achieve business goals to include, but not limited to, WIP, profitability, TAT, overtime and customer satisfaction.

* Work to maintain and further develop a 6-S program, active project boards, performance measurement charts and training program status metrics.

* Develop and support the growth of all employees.

* Assure compliance with all regulatory bodies’ and company policies and procedures.

* Work with the Senior Manager, Component Services, to develop a performance oriented work environment encompassing timely performance appraisals and disciplinary or corrective actions

* This job does have supervisory responsibilities.

* Maintains the highest ethical personal and professional standards.

* Other projects and initiatives as assigned.

Physical Requirements: Primarily office environment. Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. At times, must be able to work in aircraft hangar environment and board / exit aircraft. At times, must be able to climb, bend, kneel, crouch, balance, and stoop. Must be able to walk particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Must be able to work primarily with fingers such as typing. Must be able to work at heights, subject to noise, subject to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, work on scaffolding, exposure to heat/cold. Must be able to communicate effectively.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanical components overhaul facility supervisor and a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in an FAA Part 145,121 or 135 Repair Station.

or

A High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience as a mechanical components overhaul facility supervisor and a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in an FAA Part 145,121 or 135 Repair Station.

Certificates & Licenses

Possess an A & P Mechanic’s license or current FAA Pt. 145 Repair Station Repairman Certificate or 10 years other relevant maintenance or manufacturing supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

The following skills and abilities are required:

* Ability to engage customers, company senior management and other staff in a professional manner.

* Effective use of MS Office Professional Suite.

* Experience with SAP a distinct advantage.

* Understanding and using the English language both oral and written.

* Reading and interpreting technical documents, regulations, policies and procedures.

* Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.

* Plan and organize.

* Demonstrate problem identification, analysis and independent decision making.

* Possess excellent interpersonal skills.

* Occasional travel worldwide with limited notice, obtain a security clearance and obtain a passport and/or visa.

•Knowledge of the following are required:

* Databases sufficient to perform the tasks associated with the position.

* Military and commercial aviation maintenance and component repair practices.

* Military and commercial aviation maintenance terminology.

* U.S. government regulations for Federal Contractors and FAA maintenance programs.

Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
