British International Helicopters currently operate AW189, S61 and AS365 N2 type helicopters from a number of different sites around the globe, predominantly supporting the UK Ministry of Defence with Search & Rescue and Commercial Air Transport operations.
We are currently recruiting for a Compliance Systems Manager to join our operation in Plymouth on a permanent basis. The purpose of the role will be to manage Compliance Monitoring across the business, through audit to a schedule and checklists derived from legal regulations across the organisations various approvals to provide assurance to the regulatory authority and Accountable Manager.
Key responsibilities of the role will include:
- To provide assurance to the Regulators (CAA and MAA) that BIHSL remain compliant with the associated regulations that form part of the organisations approvals as a key delegated responsibility by the Accountable Manager
- Maintain the BSI 9001:2015 approval through facilitating audit
- To liaise closely with the Accountable Manager raising matters of non-compliance that can have a serious impact on the approvals held
- To liaise closely with the Safety Manager for matters where audit findings could have safety impacts
- Ensure Compliance department staff competency and training requirements are understood and maintained
- Have compliance at the forefront when carrying out role
- Advocate personal safety, operational safety and safety of others as expected of all BIHSL staff
- Advocate the impact of change within the organisation and any associated compliance impact
- Act as a focus and conduit for any compliance matters involving the CAA, MAA, BSI
- Ensure external audit findings are responded to by the associated department nominated person in a timely manner
- Manage internal audit findings, including escalation when required following the QMS laid out in the approved expositions and manuals
- Prioritise the audit schedule to remain compliant
- Review compliance checklists for currency
- Manage time and demands in order to attend Company meetings
- Ensure confidentiality within the compliance department due to the sensitivity of the discussions and broad visibility of all department activities, whether it be at a personal level or commercially sensitive information
- Look for efficiencies and improvements that will not impact accuracy of the role requirements
Requirements
- Experience of holding Nominated Person / Form 4 responsibility in a similar role (Essential)
- Hold a recognised auditor qualification (Essential)
- Auditing experience within an aviation environment (Essential)
- Experience of dealing with UK CAA (Essential)
- Have the ability to interpret regulatory and airworthiness standards and provide guidance to staff (Essential)
- Have experience of both Aerotrac and Centrik (Desirable)
