Excel Technical Consulting is delighted to offer this new permanent position as a Commercial Officer with a valued client of ours in the UK.

As the Commercial Officer you will be responsible in supporting the Commercial aspect of the business, this is an interesting and varied role working with the Commercial Manager & Commercial Director. You will also be asked to contribute to the success & growth of the business where required.

Essential Experience Required:

  • A previous Commercial position within a service delivery company or public sector, particularly a PFI framework
  • Experience within a complex contractual framework incorporating a performance monitoring/KPI regime
  • Ability to conduct contractual changes, including coordinating work with company lawyers 
  • Ability to prepare proposals and conduct pricing & contractual negotiations

Responsibilities & Duties:  

  • Supporting the Commercial Manager & Commercial Director in identifying/resolving commercial issues facing the business
  • Providing commercial support to other individuals within the organisation
  • Developing commercial procedures within the overall company framework
  • Seek and assess opportunities to deliver additional turnover/margin for the business & develop business models to support such initiatives 
  • Corresponding with clients on specific terms & conditions concerning KPIs and agreeing on a way forward in case of disagreement's escalating, including initiating a dispute resolution process
  • Review, analyse and comment on various commercial contract aspects, to include but not restricted to the following:
  • Responsibilities of defined parties
  • Terms & Terminations
  • Representations, Warranties, Covenants & IPR
  • Insurances
  • Indemnities & Liabilities
  • Confidentiality, Charge Control
  • Governance, dispute resolution
  • General Provisions (jurisdiction, correspondence, governing law etc)
  • Risk Management

 Desirable Experience Required:

  • Contract negotiations, including negotiation with clients on KPIs
  • Financial & Commercial frameworks
  • Previous experience in the aviation sector and/or defence availability programmes is desirable

Essential Qualifications Required:

  • Academic degree or qualified by experience with recognised professional qualifications through accredited institutes such as the Institute of Export, Institute of Commercial Management or the chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply

This should be a great opportunity for someone who meets the above criteria and skill set to join a company that values their staff.

The position is a fixed term contract for one year, however the company may offer further employment with progression but there is no guarantee of this.

Hours: 40 per week

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Location: East Midlands
