Chief pilot PC-24 Svenskt Ambulansflyg

 

The Swedish national air ambulance organization, Kommunalförbundet Svenskt Ambulansflyg (KSA), is looking for an experienced chief pilot for the EMS equipped Pilatus PC-24.

About KSA

Kommunalförbundet Svenskt Ambulansflyg (KSA) is a national organization formed, mutually owned and financed by all twenty-one (21) regions in Sweden. The purpose of KSA is to increase patient services and safety by making air ambulance more effective through coordination and coordinated use of common resources. KSA is currently establishing an AOC for the purpose of operating a fleet of six PC-24 air ambulance aircraft for the Swedish regions. The aircraft will be based at the AEMS bases being established at Umeå (ESNU), Stockholm/Arlanda (ESSA) and Gothenburg/Landvetter (ESGG) airport together with flight crew, medical- and maintenance staff.

The planned start of operations is 2021.

 

Job description

The Chief pilot (CP) is responsible for ensuring that all flight crew have the necessary procedures and qualifications to operate the PC-24 safely and efficiently. The CP reports to the DFO.

The CP role is a part-time flying role with flying duties not expected to exceed 50%. 

As a CP you will take an active part in setting up the flight operations department including but not limited to establishing procedures, checklists, policy’s and descriptions. The work will include both project work with other team members as well as representing KSA during meetings with external stakeholders such as aircraft manufacturer, authority representatives and others. 

The responsibilities of the Chief Pilot include, but are not limited to;

  •        Establishing and maintaining the OM-B and MEL in coordination with the DFO
  •        Performing route and standardization check flights
  •        Provide timely response to occurrence and flight safety reports and keep the DFO informed about sub-standard performance or discrepancies
  •        Responsible for the recruitment process and ensure the recruitment and employment process is in accordance with the company requirement
  • You will have a key role during final delivery inspections of KSA:s aircraft during 2021. 

 

Requirements

For the position as CP you must be a highly motivated and goal-driven person who will report to, and work closely with, the Director of Flight Operations. You have extensive knowledge and technical expertise in jet aircraft operation.

Furthermore you must have;

  •        A valid EASA ATPL
  •        A TRI rating
  •        Previous experience as Chief pilot
  •        Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of EC, EASA and national regulations
  •        International flight operations experience with extensive knowledge and experience of winter operations within the Scandinavian region.
  •        Extensive knowledge and experience in establishing flight operational procedures
  •        Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of safety management and risk assessments
  •        Excellent English language skills (both verbal and written) 
  •        Fluent in a Scandinavian language
  •        Proficient in MS Office application

Additional skills

  •        Previous experience of air ambulance operations
  •        Previous experience as a nominated person flight operations and/or crew training in a European CAT operation.

 As a person you are structured, goal orientated and communicative. You enjoy working in teams as well as working independently towards deadlines. You are a problem solver and you make things happen. The KSA team is small and we work closely together, especially during the start-up phase of the project. We will put a lot of weight into your interpersonal skills and how we feel you will fit into our team.
