Position Description

The Certification Engineer is responsible for producing the required compliance documentation on a variety of helicopter projects and managing related activities. Ensuring OEM, customer and regulatory quality standards are met for all aspects of a project. Reviewing, interpreting and following technical documentation is required. The ability to produce quality work within tight time constraints.

• Manage related activities to the approval of modifications on aircraft projects and meeting the delivery schedule of the projects as assigned by the Department Manager.
• Lead and manage teams to collectively achieve a common goal (eg STC)
• Review regulations and/or proposals and extract requirements which are traceable and verifiable
• Conduct aircraft system safety assessments (including detailed avionics Fault Tree Analysis). Thorough working knowledge of 14 CFR 27/29.1309 is essential.
• Prepare and review certification documentation and reports; these include, but are not limited to, Certification Plans, Environmental Testing plans, compliance reports, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Flight Manual Supplements, etc.
• Manage constantly evolving project schedules in order to prioritize tasks to ensure on-time delivery.
• Provide technical guidance for business development & support for worldwide Sales
• Ensure all work carried out by the Engineering Department is supported by the required certification documentation.
• Create working relationships with regulatory personnel, as required. (FAA, Transport Canada, Japanese Civil Aviation Authority, EASA, etc.)
• Liaise with customers regarding technical issues, as required
• SRED Project Support (Tax Credit for Research & Development projects)
• Assist with the creation of Engineering drawings when not occupied with Certification duties.
• Record keeping, filing and data entry, research projects.
• Miscellaneous projects on an as-needed basis.
Position Requirements

• Engineering Degree in Aerospace/Systems engineering, or other similar field is an considered an asset (College education with acceptable experience will be considered)
• Formal training with Canadian Aviation Regulations, Federal Aviation Regulations, or other regulatory authorities
• Minimum 8 years experience in a related field.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to prepare detailed technical reports and specifications.
• Strong thorough understanding of all technical documents such as technical bulletins, alert service bulletins, etc.
• Hands-on electrical experience an asset
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
• Experience producing complex technical documents. Technical writing is paramount to this position.
• Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team. Experience leading teams is an asset.
• Ability to work on multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment.
• Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
