ARI Buying Function

ARI has established a high performing Buying team based across our global business. ARI manages Beauty, Liquor, Tobacco, Confectionery, Souvenirs and Fashion & Accessories across multiple Global locations. A large portion of the Global Buying team sits in ARI’s Head Office in Dublin, Ireland but we also have local Buyers based onsite in each region. The Buying team has the responsibility to build and develop on the current success of the business and ensure that the exciting plans, objectives and profitable revenues of the company are achieved by implementing an effective category and product strategy in each location.

This role

We are looking to hire two high performing candidates to join the Buying team to complete six month contracts initially. These roles will provide practical experience to a someone starting out in their career by actively learning from and working alongside a Global Buying team. You will develop your commercial skills (including negotiation), your presentation skills and your inter-personal skills in dealing with challenging relationships and cross-functional departments. These roles will also allow you to develop your analytical skills including the ability to compile data from often complex sources and to evaluate the output and produce a business rationale for actions. These roles will provide the successful individual with a managed opportunity to develop a career as a Buyer across a wide variety of categories and to gain experience of working in a truly global and expanding business sector.


* Experience in retail essential
* At least 1 years’ experience in buying would be preferable
* Strong communication skills
* Strong commercial awareness
* Excellent numerical and analytical abilities
* Experience working in a fast-paced environment
* Capable communication and presentation skills, to be able to articulate recommendations and present information to all levels across the business and suppliers
* Advanced IT skills – particularly Excel
* Strong knowledge of IT system and programs
* Build strong relationships with other stakeholders in the business and with suppliers


* Assists the Global Buying Team to achieve all KPI’s with particular emphasis on sales and profit
* Supports the Buyer/Global Buying Manager (GBM) to execute business plans
* Manages the implementation of new business and new vendor agreements
* Collates local feedback, identifies specific opportunities and weaknesses and escalates to Buyer/GBM
* Maintains and develops positive vendor relationships
* Supports delivery of new vendor openings and changes in store locations
* Helps build and execute implementation of the local promotional plan
* Briefs store teams for all changes and promotional activities
* Identifies opportunities for local products in conjunction with Buyer & GBM
* Ensures compliance to SLAs and all agreed negotiations
* Completes weekly category analysis, supports optimum stock forecasting and on shelf availability
* Tracking and reporting on Store level performance for Global Buying Team
* Provides general administrative support for Global Buying Team
* Other duties as required
