To provide direction & leadership in the interpretation of production related data within Aircraft Operations and EMC

Innovate and develop strategies for the improvement of performance and utilisation (K and IDP) including workload and capacity planning.

Manage & direct the Business Performance, Work Analysis, and Product Cost and Estimating team providing development opportunities where appropriate.

Ensure that activities under their control are undertaken in accordance with the requirements as set out in the Health, Safety and Environment Operating Manual (HSEOM) and the procedures and guidance contained within.

Ensure that all personnel are competent and have the necessary to skills to achieve the Company, Department and personal objectives within their role.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Develop, manage and maintain an operations planning & workload model for the development of short, medium and long term strategies.
  • Manage the generation and setting of targets for the submission of budgets for output, manpower and operating costs.
  • Responsible for generating the Operations Workload summaries of P51 & P56 for cross geography strategy development.
  • Lead the development of Work Analysis within Aircraft Operations.
  • Direct the development of information & feedback on Performance (k) & Utilisation (IDP) measures and to actively develop strategies for delivering the Company objectives.
  • Drive performance improvements through motivational & collaborative direction of the use of Work Analysis data in production areas.
  • Manage the monthly review of capacity vs workload with the Aircraft Operations managers.
  • Manage the monthly work analysis meetings with Aircraft Operations managers & manufacturing engineering with the aim of reducing cost & improving performance / utilisation.
  • Manage & implement productivity improvements through the provision and interpretation of relevant daily / weekly performance data in the operations areas to improve both K & IDP.
  • Develop and implement required reporting for senior management reviews i.e. Operations, Plant meetings.
  • Direct and develop the Aircraft Operations KPI / Management systems reporting and implementation by providing a relevant team to support innovation and managing the work load and priorities.
  • Innovate and initiate improvements & developments in the operating processes to deliver the required business results through the Continuous Improvements team and activities
  • Manage the utilisation of manpower within the budget for both direct and indirect labour.
  • Develop strategies for achieving product cost reduction targets and to manage / enable cost reduction activities through the use of Work Analysis tools.
  • Manage & develop the Aircraft Operations estimating & bid sign-off function determining future state & strategy within the wider role of Product Costing.
  • Deputise for the Material, Planning and Control Manager in their absence to ensure and maintain the common build plan.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • Ideally educated to degree level with demonstrable business experience but a minimum apprenticeship within an engineering, aircraft or military environment.
  • Previous management/supervisory experience desirable.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with employees, internal and external customers.
  • The ability to work under own initiative without supervision to achieve business requirements.
  • Budgeting & the implications of performance and utilisation.
  • Extensive working knowledge of finance.
  • Extensive working knowledge of contracts, bids & product cost.
  • Significant experience of MRP management & principles.
  • Organisation, Planning and resource management capability.
  • Knowledge of assembly and/or manufacturing techniques in a Manufacturing or Operations environment combined with good product knowledge.
  • Team worker who is customer focused.
  • Good communicator, including presentation skills.
  • Flexible and conscientious approach.
  • Ability to prioritise and delegate workload in a supervisory capacity.
  • Proven background in effective problem solving techniques.
  • Desirable attitude and behaviour.
  • Very good knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system.
  • Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Commercial awareness.
