This job requisition is for a senior BR&T engineer with expertise in hole generation processes, process development, and technologies reporting to the St. Louis Manufacturing Research & Development (MR&D) team within Boeing Research & Technology's (BR&T) Manufacturing Technology Integration (MTI) organization. The BR&T | MR&D groups directly supports production and development programs within the St. Louis region, leading manufacturing technology insertion & integration into the production systems.

Position Responsibilities:

*

Leads complex and challenging equipment & process development projects and tests.

*

Executes technical lead engineering (TLE) role for hole generation processes, drill process development, power feed technologies, and assembly automation.

*

Mentors & trains early career engineers to effectively develop and implement assembly process improvements and affordability initiatives in production.

*

Defines overall work strategy and priorities and clearly communicates those priorities to the team.

*

Reviews and guides progress towards project milestones. Ensures project progress will meet the needs of Production Operations customers.

*

Motivates team members to strive for excellence and challenges junior engineers' performance.

*

Proactively addressing opportunities to leverage technology to modernize production operations.

*

Professionally represent MR&D when interfacing with program, operations, and IPT senior leadership teams.

*

Sets goals and expectations for the MR&D team based on the delivery and affordability needs of Production Operations.

*

Develop & improve internal processes and procedures around MR&D support to programs, technical expertise, and knowledge management.

The successful candidate will:

*

Provide technical expertise to St. Louis production programs and development projects in hole generation technologies, drill process development, and automation.

*

Support operations across multiple programs and projects.

*

Assume responsibilities as technical lead engineer (TLE) for St. Louis MR&D

*

Be responsible to coordinate development tasks, communicate status to program senior leadership, and support engineers across multiple programs to accomplish project milestones and tasks.

*

Provide technical guidance to a wide variety of problems.

*

Have strong communication skills and be a highly motivated self-starter who can apply engineering skills to current production support requirements and MR&D projects.

*

Interact with customers (internal and external) and supplier to coordinate and resolve production technical issues on a frequent basis.

*

Occasionally travel to vendor facilities, technical conferences, or technical exchange meetings is required.

Qualifications

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

*

B.S. in Engineering or Technology Fields (Robotics, Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering Fields) required.

*

10 or more years as drill process development and testing expertise.

*

15 or more years of experience in an engineering or technically related field.

Typical Education / Experience:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 20 or more years' experience, Master's with 18 or more years' experience or PhD with 15 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
