Your Role

Our state-of-the-art battery systems are key to making the Volocopter extremely safe to fly. You are a software engineer experienced in the development of functionally safe systems. Within a multi-disciplinary team, you lead the development of embedded software for the Volocopter Battery Management System with a focus on system safety and verify that the design implementation meets the required safety and reliability objectives.

Your Tasks

  • Implementation of application-level safety-critical software for Li-Ion Battery Management System based on high-level functional descriptions/block diagrams / Matlab models
  • Requirements definition, selection, and management of external suppliers and tools
  • Test and validation of newly developed or existing BMS software, test automation
  • Close cooperation with the hardware engineers
  • Assist in system reliability assessments, including failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)

Requirements

  • Degree (BSc, MSc) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar
  • Track record of successfully completed software projects
  • Professional experience in the development of functional safety software (IEC 61508, ISO 26262, DO-178, V model)
  • Strong analytical skills and a structured approach
  • Experience in software testing and verification (white/black box testing, static/dynamic testing, unit/integration/system testing)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team player, confident in technical discussions, ability to organize and “get things done”
  • A structured way of working, high sense of responsibility, Hands-On attitude
  • Very good English language skills (written and spoken)
