Our avionics segment is taking off. We’re seeking an aviation systems and human factors engineer to perform user interface reviews, system-level bench testing and regression testing for basic software changes and assist in human factors evaluations for integrated flight deck programs and retrofit product lines. We are looking for a full-time Aviation Systems and Human Factors Engineer 1 for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role you will be responsible for assist in maintaining system benches and flight simulator labs including software loading and configuring for different airframes. Other essential functions include:

*

Creates software change requests that clearly define new features and functionality, identified software issues, necessary changes, and steps to recreate problems

*

Supports software Change Control Board meetings and represent the system level, user interface, and pilot aspects of changes

*

Provides technical content for system design/description documentation.

*

Contributes to the creation of technical product proposals and related documentation in response to customer request

*

Assists in reviews of customer requirements to assess compliance, technical support for OEM customer inquiries and issue resolution, and review of pilot documentation

*

Assists in training of others on basic pilot knowledge and aviation including outreach activities and flight simulator and equipment demonstrations

*

Assists in human factors evaluations

*

Demonstrates basic working knowledge of Garmin aviation user interface guidelines

*

Communicates status of work clearly providing visibility to supervisor or mentor and thoroughly documents work in an organized manner

Qualifications

Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Human Factors, Math, or Physics from a four-year college or university with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Other requirements include:

Demonstrates working knowledge of aviation, avionics, and applicable FAA regulations including a pilot’s license or equivalent aviation experience

*

Demonstrates basic knowledge of Garmin Integrated Flight Decks and general knowledge of most Garmin aviation products

*

Must demonstrate the capability to perform basic troubleshooting & debugging

*

Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Previous work or internship experience working on consumer or aviation products is highly preferred!
