Job Description

Pratt & Whitney Mechanical Systems, Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) engineering module center is seeking dedicated individuals to support our organization.

Do you aspire to work in a challenging, ever-developing environment? Pratt & Whitney has a rare opportunity for an Associate Director of Mechanical Systems Structures. MSEN is responsible for design, validation, manufacture, and delivery of the majority of engine hardware.

The Associate Director of Mechncial Systems will work with the MSEN Structures Director and lead technical management of a dynamic team of structures engineers working on multi-disciplinary integrated product teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Actively leading the resolution of high impact Structural issues, and owning significant structural tasks.
* Ensuring that the Structures discipline delivers quality analyses on time and on budget
* Developing standard work, tools and methods that are state of the art and on par with other groups within PW and the turbine industry
* Supporting funding, development and incorporation of the methods and technology into our products
* Guiding development of mechanical configurations that result in products that are low cost and competitively superior
* Providing direction & leadership to a team of approximately 25 Structures Engineers
* Coaching and mentoring junior engineers within the discipline
* Participate in workforce planning activities, Leadership Development Review & Employee Performance processes

Education:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
* 10+ years of experience in structures, gears, bearings, or seals
* US Citizenship is required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifcations:

* An advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
* Experience with conceptual and preliminary design optimization of metallic and composite material gas turbine structures
* Experience with technical communication to engineering and program executive management
* Experience with employee engagement and change management initiatives
* Excellent Judgment and professional maturity
* The ability to create positive relationships and craft clear communication
* Prior leadership experience with ability in crisis management and high pressure scenarios
* Demonstrated ability to organize and execute large-scale organizational plans
