Reporting to the Regional Director, Airport Passenger, Cargo & Security/ Member & External Relations (Asia-Pacific), the incumbent will be responsible for delivering APCS priorities for the region. These will primarily include leading the Security agenda for the region, delivering on security campaigns and providing regional input into the global security priorities. The Assistant Director will also be assigned additional functional and leadership responsibilities based on the wider IATA priorities and APCS team targets.
Lead strategic plans to implement IATA’s priorities on Security and Facilitation for the region;
Provide Aviation security leadership to the airline community in the region
Represent IATA at Regional and Global Security confernces and events
In addition to seucirty, support or lead the broader APCS agenda as determined by Regional Director
Prepare submissions, briefs, draft letters etc. to support high level interventions (e.g. DG with Ministers);
Work closely with Member airlines and with internal colleagues (e.g. SFO, MER, FDS and Corporate Communications) to ensure coordinated, coherent campaign strategies and implementations;
Support team efforts to continuously improve, develop new skills, tools and processes, enhance communications and reporting, etc;
Any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by Regional Director from time to time.
Qualifications and Skills
University degree in Economics, Accounting, Political Science, or equivalent experience;
Proven aviation security experience, especially in the area of ICAO guidance, current industry trends, airport and airline procedures (mandatory)
Asia-Pacific experience and familiarity with key aviation stakeholders in the region is highly desired
Strong and proven negotiating and lobbying/influencing skills;
Strong analytical and logical ability;
Strong communications skills, both oral and written;
Excellent command of written and spoken English, other languages would be an asset;
Diplomacy for dealing with high-level government contacts, senior management in industry, etc;
Organizational and personal skills to deal with many unrelated matters concurrently;
High level of competence in use of standard office automation systems.
