Assembly Team Leader Contract Gloucester

Our Client is the world leader in the design, development, manufacture and support of landing gear systems and they are actively seeking an Assembly Team Leader to join a busy production team.

The role of the Assembly team leader is to provide guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to your team of Fitters to ensure that the production of landing gear is delivered customers on time, on quality and on cost, ensuring HSE standards are adhered to at all times.

You will effectively organise, delegate, manage and performance monitor all Fitters and ensure the smooth running of your designated zone within company standards and expectations.

Key responsibilities:

Wider management team:
*Working collaboratively with the management team to effectively support production schedules whilst maintaining budgeted people and quality costs.
People leader
*Your main role is to act as a motivator, supervisor and role model and mentor to your line reports. You will proactively manage people issues - nipping any issues in the bud. Escalating to Manager or HR Focal as appropriate.
*Participate in the recruitment of new fitters and the Personal Development Review of all team members.
*You will ensure all new starters in your team are provided with a clear induction programme and have regular monthly probationary reviews. You will assign a buddy and ensure a smooth onboarding into the company so that they have the right skills, experience and knowledge to undertake their role.
*Manage team member holiday authorisation, absence, return to work and any capability and disciplinary actions as required
*Conduct team meetings to update members on best practices and continuing expectations
Zone responsibility:
*You are the key point of contact for a specific zone within the shop. You will be responsible for ensuring that this zone is in line with 5S standards, quality and Health, Safety and Environmental standards. You'll inspire and motivate the fitters to adhere to these standards and to promote collaboration and team working.
*Use red tag process to keep the areas clear and log anything removed/scrapped/replaced. Keep 'area' board of your own zone up to date with any relevant changes and improvements.
*Effectively manage equipment in the areas for example, maintenance, be aware of calibration of due dates, replacements etc and escalate any issues immediately to a manager.
*Conduct 7:30am QRQC meetings daily, manage the time at these meetings and actively be involved in delegating, escalating or dealing with the issues in a timely manner (within 5 days where possible)
*Conduct daily shift commencement meetings to facilitate shift hand overs between team leaders
*Attend weekly info shares and cascade key points to fitters (weekly). Take the opportunity to discuss improvements to areas, promote upcoming events and encourage team members to share ideas.
*Communicate key company issues in the regular Cascade and take personal accountability for doing this to ensure that all fitters have the key information.

Training and compliance
*Liaise with the Cell Technician to deliver appropriate team member training to ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are upheld.
*Work collaboratively with the training team to ensure cost effectiveness in line with business needs.
*Ensure team compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental and Quality Systems.
*Ensure your own team is qualified in all the relevant areas for their particular role and keep your teams training Matrix up-to-date.

Health and Safety
*Ensure the distribution and usage of PPE equipment within company standards and policies.
*Support the Cell technician with resource for risk and ergonomic assessments including other shop checks such as ladders, steps, drains, spill kits, etc.

Cost control
*Control and manage overtime within budgeted levels as set by Senior Manager and Managers.
*Ensure all products are manufactured as specified within the Quality System and to organise corrective action to maintain the product at the accepted quality levels.
